Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 128

*Meanwhile with Jay*

He was in his room, looking at pictures of you, wondering how he got so lucky to be proposing to you. "God I love you so much," Jay said. He heard a soft rapping on the door. "Come in," he said. Tom walked in, and Jay tensed up. "What do you want, Tom?" Jay asked, slightly harsh.

"I came to apologize. I didn't mean any of those things. I just...I was worried that you were going to get hurt. You're my mate, and I would KILL anyone who hurt you," he confessed.

"She wouldn't hurt me. I'm in love with her Tom, and she's in love with me. What you said was totally uncalled for," Jay said.

"I'm really sorry mate. I thought you were rushing things and I was just worried about you. I didn't sleep the whole night before because I had this dream that you had committed suicide because she had left you." He said.

"It's not going to happen. I've been clean for months. But I'm ready to settle down with her. She's my everything," Jay said.

"...and what if she says no?" Tom asked.

"She will still be my everything. I'm not going to just move on," Jay said.

Tom sighed. "Sorry mate, but is marriage really the way you want to go? You're only 23 and she's 20!"

"I'll never be more ready than I am now," Jay said.

"If you're getting married now, are you having kids next year or something? You have the band, Jay!" Tom said.

"We'll only have kids when she's ready. I'll still be part of the band. I'm not leaving it, Tom. I've thought of everything that can come out of this and I'm still going to propose," Jay said.

"I approve mate," he said, "I was just worried, but I guess there was nothing for me to worry about."

"There really wasn't. You could've just talked to me instead of calling her a bitch behind her back," Jay said.

"It hurts me Jay! Nathan and you have gotten hurt by her a lot, and it pains me to see you like that!" Tom said, "can you blame me for getting defensive of you two?"

"No I can't, you still didn't have the right to call her that though. She's my girlfriend and soon-to-be fiancé. Do you really think that was the way to go?" Jay said.

"No..." He admitted, "that was just my temper getting ahold of me again."

"Might want to control that before I beat the shit out of you again," Jay said.

"Fine," he said, "mates?" He asked, extending his hand out for Jay to shake.

Jay took his hand. "Mates," he said. Tom pulled him into a bro hug, and then went back downstairs. Jay decided to go and find Nath. "Hey Nath? Mind if I talk to you?" Jay asked when he found him in the living room.

"Yeah sure mate," he said.

"Let's take a walk," Jay said, as they walked outside.

"So what did you want to to talk to me about?" Nathan asked.

"I just want to make sure you're okay with what I'm going to do..." Jay said.

"I'm fine mate, really," Nathan said.

"Are you sure?" He asked, "I'll wait if you want. I don't want to hurt you..."

"I'm serious, Jay. Propose to her, make her happy," Nathan said.
