Almost Is Never Enough
Chapter 112
The next morning you woke up in Jay's arms, a smile plastered on your face. You snuggled closer into him and he hugged you tighter. "That was..." You said, unable to finish.
"Perfect," Jay said, finishing your sentence.
"That's the word," you said, looking at the ceiling.
Jay lowered your face to meet his as he kissed you gently. "You're the best thing that's happened to me," he mumbled.
"So I guess you want round 2?" You joked.
"Depends. Do you want to?" Jay asked.
You decided to be playful. "Noo I'm tireddd," you said childishly.
Jay just chuckled and kissed your cheek. "Then I guess we're staying here longer," he said, nuzzling into your neck.
"I'm not. I've got to take a shower," you said, standing up and instantly covering yourself with a sheet, blushing.
"Aww babe," Jay pouted. "Don't be shy," he said, pouting at you being self conscious.
"I'm not shy," you said, out of habit.
"You're being self conscious right now," Jay said.
"I don't know, I've always been like that," you said, wrapping the sheet tighter around you.
"Why? You're absolutely beautiful," Jay said. You blushed at him. "Seriously," Jay said, "Why do you ever worry about things like your weight? You're stunning."
"It's out of habit I guess," you said.
Jay just frowned at you. "I'll never understand..." He said, standing up, "how someone could think they're ugly."
"Because the world thinks they are," you whispered, not looking at Jay.
"The world doesn't think that, the world sees beauty," Jay said, putting a hand on your waist.
"Not in me though," you said, looking at the floor.
"You have got to be kidding me," Jay said, "you're flawless."
"I'm really not though...I've got scars," you whispered.
"Those scars don't make you ugly, they make you strong," Jay said.
You wrapped your arms around Jay as you rested your head on his chest. "Thank you," you whispered.
"Don't thank me for the truth," Jay said. He felt your ribs when he hugged you and frowned a bit. "Lovely...have you been...starving yourself?" Jay asked worriedly.
"What? No..." You muttered.
"I can see and feel your ribs," Jay said sadly.
"Fast metabolism," you muttered.
"It wouldn't be fast to the point where you can see your bones," Jay said. "Besides yesterday, when was the last time you actually ate something? An actual meal."
"I eat all the time, you see me," you said.
"I know it's just...I want you safe. That includes your health," Jay said.
"I'm fine, Jay," you said, "so what I'm a little skinny? I'll look good for you in a bathing suit," you halfheartedly joked.
"But I want you to feel good too. I don't want you to look in the mirror and be able to see your ribs. It's just going to put you down," Jay said.
