Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 60

"Hello Mr. McGuiness. I'm Dr. Henderson." The doctor said, shaking Jay's hand.

"Nice to meet you," Jay said, "call me Jay."

"Alright Jay," the doctor said with a smile. "And who might you be?" Dr. Henderson asked.

"I'm his girlfriend," you said, shaking his hand.

"Shall we get started?" Dr. Henderson asked.

Jay nodded his head and you squeezed his hand. "Alright Jay, I've been told that you've tried to commit suicide four times in the last month, care to explain?" The doctor asked.

Jay explained everything. "But I'm okay now, I really am. She's with me and we've both promised not to harm ourselves anymore." He ended.

The doctor nodded his head and continued to write. "So Jay, has there been anything in the past that connects with your suicidal tendencies?" The doctor asked.

Jay explained all of that also. You almost cried for him, it was just terrible what he'd been through. "I see..." The doctor said. "So when was the last time you had cut yourself?"

"At the hospital...when I almost died and needed a blood transfusion," he said.

"In my notes it says that you had donated blood for him, is that true?" The doctor asked you.

"Yeah it is," you said.

The doctor continued to write on his notepad. "Jay, has there been any conflict with Nathan after she had made her decision?"

"Ummm yeah a little bit, but he's moved on now." Jay said.

"Okay," the doctor said. "One final question until your next visit. Are you very happy with your life now? Have you even thought about cutting or anything related to suicide?"

"I haven't. Honestly, I'm happy with everything." Jay said.

"That's good to hear," the doctor said with a smile. "So we'll continue in our next visit. Nice to meet you, Jay."

"Thanks," Jay said, shaking his hand.

The two of you walked out of the office. "That went better than I had expected. I thought that he would go into every detail and over analyze." Jay said.

"Yeah. It went great," you said, kissing him.

He drove home and disappeared into his room for a minute, before walking into the living room to talk to everyone. "Hey Jay, everything alright?" Siva asked.

"Yeah. It went great," Jay said. He sat down beside you, holding your hand.

"I have to go to the bathroom," you said. Instead, you went to Jay's room to see what he had been doing. There was a blue notebook on the bed. You walked over and sat down, picking up it up and opening it in curiosity. You saw song lyrics written in it, and read them:

My angel came down from her place down in heaven

And slain all my demons from hell

And it took her some time to notice my lovin

But maybe that is just as well

She lifts me up I don't wanna let her down

If I'm blinded by city lights

She'll bring me back to town

You smiled at the lyrics and closed the book, putting it back where it was so that Jay didn't notice. You quickly walked back downstairs. He wrapped an arm around you and kissed the top of your head.
