Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 24

Jay instantly ran outside to the car. He banged on the door. "UNLOCK THE DOOR PLEASE!" He begged.

You looked outside the window to see Jay banging on the door, pleading for you to open it. You then hit the button, unlocking the car and continued to cry in the backseat, unable to look at him again.

"BABY ARE YOU OKAY?!? DON'T DO THIS!" He screamed in a panic, looking at your wrists, your thighs, everywhere. You continued to bawl not listening to a word he said. Jay then relaxed a little when he saw that you didn't cut yourself.

"Baby...please. Please don't cry," he whispered to you, letting a few tears slip out of his eyes. He wrapped his arms around you, not sure of what else to do. You hugged him back, crying very hard into his chest. You felt safe there, with his arms wrapped around you and the warmth he brought. It felt like...home.

"J-Jay," you said between sobs.

"It's okay love. Shhh just let it out," he whispered to you, kissing your head.

"Th-thank you," you whispered. "For everything."

"I've really done nothing, lovely. You're the one who's done everything and so much more for me," Jay whispered to you, rocking you back and forth gently.

"Oh you mean like almost getting you killed? And almost making you commit suicide twice?" You muttered. Jay felt guilty that you didn't know that he almost committed suicide again, when you tried to do it yourself before. "What's wrong Jay?" You whispered.

Jay looked down at you. "N-nothing love, it's really nothing."

"Jay, you need to tell me," you whispered.

Jay looked away from you as he let more tears leave his eyes. "I-I promised you I would never do it again. I'm sorry," Jay whispered.

"What are you talking about?" You asked, really worried.

"That day, the day you got these," Jay said, holding your wrists and tracing the scars, "I found the medicine ward in the hospital. I found a pill bottle and almost took the whole thing. All of the lads stopped me though, even the girls. I thought that because you were about to kill yourself, I should go with you..."

You stared at him, unable to comprehend what he had just said. Jay looked into your eyes. "You just don't understand it. I love you. I'm in love with you and I just don't understand how you can love one person so much. I love everything about you. Everything you hate, I absolutely adore. Everything you love, I can't get enough. The littlest things like the way you laugh or the way your eyes shine when you talk about something you love, makes me fall even harder. You may not understand how perfect you are to me, but I see it, and I'm not afraid to say that I am in love with you."

Finding no words to be able to describe what you were feeling, you pulled him in for a long, meaningful kiss instead. You broke apart and smiled at him, then pulled him back in again, holding his neck to control the kiss. He snaked his arms around your waist, pulling you closer. He broke apart from you to look into your eyes. "I love you," he whispered huskily.

"I-I love you too," you whispered.

He smiled cheekily at you. "Does that mean I'm forgiven?" He asked, full of hope.

"You have to promise me that you won't do that again. And you have to keep your promise. Seriously Jay, what would I do without you?!?" You said.

"I promise you, if you promise me never to self harm or try to commit suicide again." Jay said.
