Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 109

The next morning you woke up in Nathan's arms. You smiled at him, until you realized everything that had happened last night. You had a sad expression on your face as you stared at your bag that was still on the floor from last night. "I could leave," you whispered, "and no one would know."

Nathan slowly woke up and pulled you closer to him. "You're not leaving you know," he mumbled. You couldn't help but smile. Nathan kissed the top of your head. "Why don't we head downstairs? I'll make us some cuppas," he said.

You nodded. "I'd like that," you said, as he grabbed your hand and led you downstairs.

You and Nathan were in the kitchen as he made you both some tea. Jay walked into the room, rubbing his head. "God I hate hangovers," he mumbled, getting out some aspirin.

"Morning Jay," you said, very nervous.

"Morning beautiful," Jay said, walking over to you and pecking your temple. You looked at Nathan helplessly. Nathan just gave you a sincere expression before he went back to his tea. "Hey lovely?" Jay asked.

"Yeah Jay?" You asked.

"Yesterday was our six month anniversary and I don't think getting drunk to Avatar was very...classy," Jay joked. "How about we go out tonight? Just you and me."

You just stared at him. You cheated on him. On your anniversary. You looked at Nathan and ran upstairs, tears streaming down your face. You quickly went into the bathroom and locked the door. Jay ran upstairs after you, standing outside of the door. "Love, please open up. What's wrong?" He asked.

You were absolutely breaking down, sobbing. "Jay, just leave me!" You said, "break up with me! Move away from me! Don't speak to me again! I don't deserve to speak to you!"

Jay was silent for a few moments, his heart breaking slightly. "W-what do you mean? What happened, baby?" Jay asked softly.

You just kept sobbing. "I-I-I," you tried saying, but the words kept getting caught in your throat.

"You can tell me anything. You know that," Jay said, though getting very worried.

"I cheated on you," you whispered through the door.

Jay was silent, trying to take in what you said. You cheated on him. Again. He held back his tears as best as he could though. "I-it's alright, lovely. I'm sure you didn't mean it," Jay whispered.

You sobbed harder. "I-it was with Nath...I-I was drunk and...and..." You managed to say, before you were convulsed in more tears.

Jay let out a saddening sigh before a tear fell down his cheek. He quickly wiped it away and put his hand on the doorknob. "Lovely, please open up," Jay whispered. You weren't responding, looking at the razor that was on the sink. "Please open the door. I want to be with you so you can stop crying. Please let me in," Jay said.

"I don't deserve you. I don't deserve anyone," you said hollowly, walking over to the razor.

"Yes you do, baby. You deserve anybody you want...even me," Jay said.

"I don't. I'm sick of breaking your heart." You said, picking up the razor.

"You're not breaking my heart. Just please open up so I can be with you. I love you, baby," Jay said, desperately wanting to rush inside and hug you.

"How can you love me?" You asked through your tears, "all I do is hurt you, so I should hurt myself." You said, whispering the last part.

"Please don't hurt yourself, I'm begging you. I don't want to see you in pain. I love you so so much, lovely. Just please open the door so I can kiss away your pain," Jay pleaded.
