Almost Is Never Enough

Chapter 27

A doctor came into the room, a sincere look on his face. "I'm Dr. Michaels." He said, introducing himself. "I'm sorry if this may seem odd, but we would like to ask all of you questions concerning James McGuiness."

"No problem," everyone replied.

"Okay," the doctor started. "Has James ever seemed depressed or suicidal in the past, anything related that could have caused this incident?" The doctor asked. The boys helped you tell the doctor everything, including your love triangle, how the fans didn't know, how they found out, and how Jay thought everyone hated him. The doctor wrote everything down before asking more questions.

"Has he ever acted like this before...he confessed everything to you?" the doctor asked, looking at you.

"Ummm I'm not sure to be honest," you mumbled, racking your brain.

"We really don't know, if he was then he was good at hiding it," Tom said.

The doctor nodded. "Can you tell us anything about how he's doing?" Nathan asked nervously.

"I'm afraid I can't answer that due to the fact that I don't know myself. As far as I know, he's still in surgery. I'm only here to ask questions because this is a suicide related case, mostly so I can find the proper way to offer him help when he comes out," the doctor said.

"You mean like...rehab?" Siva asked.

"In a way, yes. He won't go into an institute do to his particular situation. His job is with the entertainment industry, which can affect him more if he is in a rehabilitation center. What I'm trying to find out is if he should take classes, see specific types of therapists that deal with similar situations, anything that can help him besides going into an institute." The doctor explained.

"Well okay," Siva said. Nathan was still holding you as you entwined your fingers, trying to keep at least one person that you loved here with you.

"I know I'm not a therapist that deals with relationship issues, but when and if James comes out, I would advise you two to keep the flirting down to a minimum, at least not around James. It would affect his chances of recovery." The doctor said.

You blushed and nodded, suddenly feeling like a terrible person. "What if I'm the cause of all of this?" You whispered in Nath's ear.

"I don't think you are," Nathan whispered back.

"But I am. He didn't have any problems before he met me," you whispered, close to tears.

Thankfully, the doctor was speaking to Siva and wasn't listening to you two. "Believe it or not he did. Not anything related to the situation he has now, but different problems. They were just as serious though," Nathan said reassuringly.

"What are you talking about?" You asked.

"We all promised him that we would never speak of them again. I'm already pushing it by telling you he did have some problems." Nathan said.

"Nathan please, I need to know," you begged.

"I'm really sorry love, but you can't know. You'll only know if he tells you himself. I'm sorry," Nathan said. You pouted for a second. Nathan simply hugged you and didn't reply, not giving in.

The doctor got up from his seat. "Thank you for helping me with my questions on James. I can guarantee you that he'll get help from a professional," the doctor said with a slight smile. You all thanked him and he left.

All everyone wanted was to know if Jay was okay. You all waited in your room for awhile, talking about all the funny moments that you all experienced with Jay, trying to lighten the mood. Soon enough, another doctor walked into the room. Everyone looked up, attentive to what the doctor was going to say about Jay.
