After a long day of work, you were ready to get home and collapse on your bed. Just the thought of the warm covers and dimmed lights were enough to make your eyelids drop even further. However you couldn't just magically transport there, you had to take the subway back. That was fine though, the time usually flew by anyway, so you'd be back home soon.
That was what you thought, but it turns out you weren't so lucky.

After boarding the train and slipping into the closest seat, you were mostly focusing on keeping yourself awake. That's why when a voice suddenly called out to you it was a bit of a surprise.
"Hey, you!"
With a start your eyes flickered over to the source, seeing a man with a bowlcut grinning down at you. "This seat taken?"
It took you a second to properly reply, realising his intentions. "Uh, no, it's not."
His face seemed to brighten. "Nice! Thanks."
Now that he was sitting beside you, you couldn't help but notice how his shoulder bumped against yours.
You mentally scolded yourself. 'It's just another passenger, it's not a big deal!'
Still, you couldn't help but stare from the corner of your eye. He wore a red jacket, but what got you attention was the expression on his face. He seemed so laid back, it was honestly making you feel even sleepier. After everyone who needed to boarded the vehicle, an announcement played over the speakers, and the vehicle began to move.
You focused on staring out of the window, not wanting to make awkward eye contact with the relaxed man next to you. You were so tired, you didn't think you'd be able to hold a conversation! Besides, you couldn't even begin to think of what to talk about with him.
The train ride went normally as it usually did. Since it was evening, the inside was quite scarce save for people who were previously at work like you. The guy next to you wasn't in a suit or anything formal, so you couldn't help but wonder where he had been.
The sound of the metro train gliding down the tracks was almost soothing in your exhausted state, and was lulling you into a light doze. That was until a slow screeching sound was heard, and the vehicle halted.
The interruption caused a couple of confused noises from the few passengers, including some to groan. Even you, who was mostly half asleep noticed and couldn't deny the feeling of slight anxiety starting to bubble in your chest.
"We are experiment some difficulty, please stay by." Was the announcement that was heard over the speakers. The man next to you grumbled and ruffled his hair in frustration.
"What else can we do? Man, this sucks."
He seemed to have noticed your mixed expression of puzzlement and surprise as he rubbed underneath his nose with his index finger, smiling at you.
"You think so too, don't 'cha?" He asked.
"Y... Yeah, it's a bit frustrating." You replied, finally finding your voice.
He beamed after hearing your agreement despite looking so comically annoyed just seconds ago. "Right? My baby brothers are probably worrying about me right now!" He pouted childishly.
"You have brothers?" You questioned curiously. He nodded, looking proud.
"Yep, and I'm the oldest!" He proclaimed cockily. "Ah, but... They might've replaced me again."
