How you felt depended on how your day went, that much was true for many. However it wasn't as if you were in a constant state of emotion, such as extreme happiness or sadness.

That being said, for a large remainder of the day you were neutral; straight-faced. Despite feeling this way, it didn't clearly show on your face. Instead, you looked like you were angry most of the time.

You'd interact with your coworkers fine at your part time job,  but they always mentioned the expression you had. Of course it was with joking intent, but you reacted differently to it. You wear quite honestly hurt that they kept bringing up something you couldn't control, but said nothing.

And that was how it'd be; the everlasting joke that was your face would be pointed out daily, and you'd respond with an empty and hollow laugh that was covered up with forced politeness. You could deal with it.

Unfortunately, it wasn't as easy with customers for you to grin and bear it. After serving elderly people you'd turn away, hearing their disapproving whispers.

"How rude, she was glaring right at us!"

"At least pretend you like working here..."

If it wasn't elderly people who misunderstood you, it was children who were frightened by your natural serious look, and would sob. You'd apologise sincerely, the guilt weighing down in you all for something you couldn't control.

Even with your apologies, the parents would shake their heads and complained when they thought you were out of earshot.

"Ugh, I just got them to calm down, too."

"Does she think she's better than us or something?"

But it was alright. Your eyes would grow damp and your stomach would twist uncomfortably, but it was alright! That was just work, and you had the rest of the day to relax.

The dark looming cloud of gloom seemed to follow you even after work, and with such a frown tugging on your lips due to the complaints you had to listen to, the constant irritation that showed naturally on your face had only amplified.

If you could just get home, and take some time to relax after a long emotionally exhausting day, you'd be fine! Just a bit more to walk, and-

"Nice day, isn't it?" An unfamiliar voice spoke up.

You stopped in yours tracks, your determined walk coming to a halt. Someone was outside, tending to their garden. You smiled at them politely.

"Oh, yeah! It is..." Honestly, you weren't expecting anyone to talk to you.

"Why the long face then? Cheer up!" The person said, only out of good nature. At this point, you were finding it hard to stop yourself from going on a rant about how you couldn't control your face, when you stopped yourself.

'They don't mean it in a bad way, they don't mean it in a bad way, just calm down and rant later.' After silently bargaining with yourself, you forced another smile.

"R-Right. Well, have a good day."

The person gave you a wave and you sharply turned your heel, continuing your walk, footsteps heavy. You really wanted to go home.

The longer that you thought about the events of the day, you more annoyed you got. Why did they feel the need to point it out everyday? They know your face and what it looks like.

Your fists clenched unconsciously and your walk had morphed into a storming speed walk down the street, which went on longer than your usual journey home. You had walked quite a distance, and where instead in the somewhat busy streets.
