It was a nice day, with people out with their family and significant others enjoying the sun. Although the weather was nice, it didn't help you feel any better.

You weren't sure of the reason, but for a while now you haven't exactly been happy. You didn't feel like doing the things you usually enjoyed, and would often spend your time staring into space and letting the day go by.

Today would have been the same usual routine, except that you had no food at all. You noticed how empty your fridge was starting to look but didn't pay it any mind, and you ended up eating only biscuits out of your cupboard. Eventually even those ran out, so you had no choice but to leave your house and go shopping.

Being the first time you left your house, the brightness of the sun was almost unbearable, causing you to wince. After a while you got used to it and heading to the nearest supermarket. Unfortunately for you, everyone had decided to spend the day outside, and you were overwhelmed with the amount of people.

Feeling anxious, you ducked into an alleyway where you were safe from being swept away by the crowd. However you continue to be struck by bad luck, and had put yourself in a bad situation.

"I don't have any money, I swear!" A panicked voice said.

"That's bull, and you know it." Replied a condescending voice.

"Yeah, how else would you buy that otaku crap?" A gruff voice scoffed,

You turned and saw two older men towering over a younger one, the expression on his face looking fearful.

Your gut was sending you signals to run and never look back, but seeing someone in harms way made your feet stay where they were. What could you do though? The familiar feeling of uselessness surfaced.

Thankfully the two older men hadn't noticed your prescense, so you had time to think. For once you were grateful you were invisible to most people. You quietly left the alleyway and looked down each side of the street, searching for help.

Your luck finally worked in your favour, as you saw a policeman looking like he was on his break. You quickly ran over to him and told him about the situation. He looked slightly bothered at the interruption, but followed you nonetheless.

The two men saw the policeman walki in the direction of the alley, and panicked.

"Bro, we've gotta run!"

"Let's ditch this freak!"

They sprinted down the street, and the policeman ran after them, leaving you to catch your breath. You though of the man's scared expression before, and thought about seeing how he was.

Then again, you weren't the best at talking to people... You'd probably make it awkward, or say the wrong thing, or...

"Hey!"

"W-wah!"  A surprise escaped you lips, and you put your hands over your thumping heart.

You turned to the voice and saw the man from before, his mouth in a triangle-like frown.

"Did I scare you? Sorry." He said, looking guilty.

"No, it's fine..." You replied quietly, not meeting his eyes.

A silence settled between you two, making you feel awkward.

"I knew this would happen..."  You thought.

The man scratched his head, trying to think of what to say.

"You were the one who helped me, right? Thanks for that." He said. You nodded, acknowledging his thanks.
