Booming echoed through the wind. Dark clouds cluttered the sky. The constant rhythm of pouring rain collided with the roofs. Astrid's hated storms since she was younger. Ever since she almost got killed in one, she's despised this kinda weather.

It didn't help that Hiccup had left two days ago for a three day chief conference at Berserker island. It also means that he's staying an extra day to wait out the storm.

"Gods." Astrid was huddled in her room of the Hofferson household "Please get here soon Hiccup."

Another thunderclap echoed, ringing her ears. A squeal escaped her as she pulled herself into a tighter ball

"There's no way anyone's leaving here until tomorrow." Heather stood by the door of her hut "Looks like you both are stuck here." Heather turned around to face Hiccup and Toothless

Hiccup sighed "Seems that way."

"Somethings up, isn't it?"

"Astrid never liked storms." Hiccup twiddled with his fingers "Especially ones like this."

"Oh. So you're worried about her?" Heather sat down next to her friend

"Yes. I am."

"Isn't Hope there?"

"She left a week ago to visit old friends." Hiccup answered

"What about your mother?"

"Out to check on her sanctuary. Seeing how it's looking. As well as paying respects to the alpha."

"So, there's absolutely no one there to comfort her?"

"Even if there was, she's not about to let Snotlout do something like that."

"You've got a point." Heather chuckled

"I just hope you're okay without me Astrid." Hiccup muttered under his breath

If storms could get worse, it has. Astrid felt ever crack of thunder bring back memories she wish she could forget.

A young five-year-old Astrid Hofferson sat in her home, curled in her bed, hearing the loud thunder and rain outdoors

"Mommy?" Astrid fisted her blanket in her hands and wrapped it around her shoulders "Daddy?"

Astrid carefully climbed down the steep log stairs to get down to the first floor

"Mommy? Daddy?" She kept her blanket around her

She pushed open the front door, a gust of wind blowing the fire out

"Mommy?" Astrid stepped out into the open "Daddy?"

Several oranges hues were produced from the fires caused by lightning strikes. Several men and women were racing to put out the fires to keep the huts intact
