Fireflies

Kurapika POV

It was a warm night and for the first time in weeks, Leorio and I were in our backyard sitting on the porch watching Gon, Killua, and Alluka catch fireflies, well, mostly Gon and Alluka.

Gon jumped and tried to grab one, "Killua! Come catch them with us!"

Killua shook his head, "I don't feel like catching fireflies." Gon stopped jumping and looked at Killua, "I call them lightning bugs." He looked over at me and Leorio, "What do you guys call them?"

Leorio sighed, "I call them luciérnagas."

Gon tilted his head, "What?" Leorio chuckled, "It means firefly in Spanish." He looked down at me, "What do you call them?"

"Lampyridae, which is their scientific name."

Leorio lightly pushed me, "Well look at you mister smartie pants." I giggled, "Sorry I know more than you." Leorio scoffed, "Oh sure you do."

"I do!" I laughed.

Leorio shook his head, "I seriously doubt it."

"Why? It's true." I laughed again. He looked at me with a smirk, "Really? Really now?" I nodded, "Mhm."

Leorio picked me up, "Come on, that's strike three." I lightly punched and kicked him. "Leorio! Put me down!" I laughed. Leorio shook his head and lifted me further up his shoulder, "Let's go settle this."

"No! No! No!"

He spun me around, "Then say it!" I punched his back again, "Say what?"

"Say that I'm smarter than you!"

I giggled, "But you aren't!"

"Then you will stay here, right on my shoulder." I shook my head, "Okay! I'll say it! Leorio, you're smarter than me! Now put me down!"

Leorio set me down and I stumbled a bit, "I'm dizzy."

Killua rolled his eyes, "No shi-" He looked at Alluka, "No duh. You were just dangling upside down for two minutes!"

Alluka ran over to Leorio, "Me next! Pick me up next!"

Leorio raised an eyebrow and bent down to her height, "You sure about that sweetie?" Alluka nodded, "Yes. You're very tall and I want to be tall too!"

Leorio laughed, "Okay, but I'm putting you on my shoulders." He picked her up and set her on his shoulders. Alluka giggled, "Big brother look! I'm taller than you now!" Killua smiled, "I see that."

I watched as Leorio ran around with her on his shoulders, he would make such a great dad. I hope he'll change his mind one day.
