Valentine's Day

Kurapika POV

I jumped up excitedly when I heard the front door open, who doesn't get excited on February 14th when your husband comes home?  I had plans for tonight and I couldn't wait for them and hopefully, Leorio couldn't either.

But sadly instead of matching my energy, Leorio sighed, took his shoes off, and fell right onto the couch, "Today was the worst. I am exhausted. Can you grab me a beer?"

"Uh, no, you're trying to stay sober. Talk to me instead, how was your day so horrible?"

"I'm so glad you asked," Leorio sat up, "I haven't gotten any sleep in twenty-four hours, Kurapika I've been up working at that hospital for twenty-four hours all because of some dumbass and her family. Some guy comes in sick, they give him to us. We couldn't tell what he had nor could we tell if it was contagious, so we quarantine him inside the hospital. The new kid goes with Johnson to investigate the surroundings of the man's surroundings. They didn't find anything, about twenty minutes later Johnson starts showing the same symptoms as the patient. We have to quartine him. The patient decides to fucking die on us, pussy ass bitch, so we only have Johnson. We have to hurry, no sleep because we have no idea when the last symptom of this will appear for Johnson."

"What's the last symptom?"

"Death." Leorio sighed, "Anyway so now the office is covered in coffee mugs, energy drinks, papers, and tears. Thankfully we figured it out then got the treatment to Johnson immediately but Jesus Christ, we were so exhausted that we fell asleep in the hallway. So then Doctor Lee reports us to HR and my boss gets mad at us. The new kid cries and I yell, the other shut up. Anyway, now I'm on clinical duty for the next month because 'I'm your boss Paladiknight respect me even though I was the guy in high-school who called your sister a whore then almost got her knocked up but thankfully you were there to take her to the chop-shop' man I hate my new boss. Fucking Shay, who names their kid Shay. 'Shay McClymonds come to the office, you too Mr. Paladiknight' I was so happy when I graduated so I was away from that dude just for him to become my boss? No, no way in hell."

Leorio sighed, "Anyway, how was your day Sunshine?"

I shrugged, "It was good. For being middle schoolers a ton of them received flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals, jewelry, little homemade goods."

Leorio raised an eyebrow, "Why? Was something going on at the school?"

I stared at him balk faced for a bit, "Leorio-"

"I'm just joking! Of course, I didn't forget El Día del Amor y la Amistad, who do you take me for? I decided to do something special for you mi amor. I have multiple things in the car for you."

I laughed, "I see you're pulling out the Spanish."

"The language won't be the only Spanish thing I'll be pulling out tonight," Leorio winked, "Now the gifts I have for you are from a faraway place called Dollar Tree where poor people go shopping. From that faraway place, I brought you balloons, chocolates, candies, stuffed animals. Then I went to a closer place and bought you earrings, clothes, shoes, and other things I thought you would like. Then I went to Spencer's and bought myself a weed mug for early morning doctor coffee."

Leorio stood up, "Now to the car to see all your surprises then off to dinner."
