Kurapika POV

I looked out the window and smiled, Leorio should be home soon and I had something planned, nothing big, just a relaxing night for just the two of us. I was just thinking we could relax and watch a movie with some snacks and two glasses of wine.

I leaned back against the window-sill and sighed with my eyes closed. Every time I heard a car pass I looked out the window. By 10:27 pm, there was still no sign of Leorio.

I got up to clean up the living room, if it was past nine pm he would come home and immediately fall on the couch. I would re-heat dinner and set it on the coffee table for him, after he ate he would immediately head to bed. I don't have any complaints because I understand he's busy but it still hurts.

I grabbed the snack bowls off the coffee table and put the lid on them and stacked them on top of each and brought them to the kitchen along with the glasses of wine. I set the bowls down. I looked at the glasses of wine and took a sip of one and dumped the rest down the sink.

I sat on the couch and turned on the TV. A few minutes later I looked at my phone two hours ago I got a message from Leorio:

There's an emergency at work and I'll be home late. I love you.

I stared at the message for a bit then threw my phone across the room causing Oreo to hide under the TV stand. I put my head in my hands, "It's not his fault, it's not his fault, it's not-" I took a deep breath and laughed then started to cry.

I stood up and walked to the bedroom. I laid down on the bed and began to sob. I closed my eyes and eventually fell asleep.

I woke up to the sound of the bedroom door opening, "Leorio?"

"Hey baby."

"What time is it?"

He sighed, "Three twenty two. I saw the wine glasses and snacks in the kitchen, I'm sorry I missed whatever you had planned, but we can do it tomorrow."

I sat up, "Can you turn on the light?"

"Of course." Leorio turned one the lamp and sat down beside me, "You look like you've been crying what's wrong?" He wrapped his arm around me and rubbed my arm.

I put my head on his shoulder, "I mean the hospital has been busy lately and I know it isn't your fault. I just missed you." He frowned, "I'm sorry baby but today was actually pretty bad."

I looked up at him, "What happened?" He sighed, "We had to put the hospital on lockdown because someone 'broke in' and kidnapped a kid. Turns out the kid was hiding because he didn't want to get heart surgery. I was stuck in the cafeteria with the rest of my team."

I closed my eyes, "I'm sorry Leorio."

"For what?"

"Making a big deal out of you not being home. I threw my phone, freaked out, abandonment issues I guess."

Leorio sighed, "I understand, after all you've been through it makes sense that you would be a little upset about it."

"A little? Leorio I broke my phone and scarred Oreo."

"That's okay, at least you didn't hurt yourself." He rubbed my arm again, "Let's go to bed okay?" I nodded, "Okay."

He turned off the lamp and laid down with his arms around me. I smiled, "I love you too."
