Child Deaths pt.2

Kurapika POV

I sighed and looked out the window. It was three in the afternoon and Leorio hasn't left our room since the call last night. I don't even know if he ate his breakfast yet.

I looked down at the lunch I made for him, He would appreciate it right? I thought to myself.

I walked into our room and sat down beside Leorio, "Hey baby. I brought you lunch." No answer, he just kept his back turned to me. I frowned, "It'll be right here just in case you get hungry okay." I looked beside me at the bedside table, his plate from breakfast was still there and it hasn't looked like he touched any of it.

I set his new plate down and grabbed the other then left the room.

I walked into the kitchen and set his plate down. I heard a knock on the front door and a bit of mumbling. Before I opened the door completely Gon tackled me with a hug, "Hi Kurapika! I missed you!"

I smiled and wrapped my arms around him in return, "Hello Gon I missed you too."

Killua I walked inside with Alluka and sat down on the couch, "You look tired." I let go of Gon and walked back into the kitchen, "Rough night I guess."

"Ew."

"Not like that. Just-"

Gon appeared beside me, "Where's Leorio I wanted to talk to him."

I tilted my head, "Leorio isn't awake yet. So try not to wake him up, he had a rough night too." I smiled at Gon and he nodded, "Okay! Hey Killua, want to go in the backyard and play tag?"

Killua shrugged, "Why not."

I looked at them, "Stay in our yard okay. I don't want out neighbors calling the police because you trespassed."

Gon nodded, "Okay!"

I chuckled as I watched them play outside. At one point Gon came into the kitchen to grab a water bottle then leave. They played outside for a few hours but Leorio still never left our room.
When the kids can back inside dinner was practically ready.

Gon frowned, "Leorio still isn't awake?"

I shook my head, "No, sorry Gon." Killua shook his head in disappointment, "You left him alone? Wasn't he struggling with a drug addiction-"

I dropped the plate in my hands and ran into our room. Leorio was still in the same position he was earlier, thank god.

I turned on the light beside him and was relieved to see his eyes open looking at me sadly. I knelt down beside him, "Hey Leo. You look tired, did you sleep last night?"

"No."

I sighed, "You should get some rest then. Did you eat?" He shook his head, "No."

"Well you should definitely eat."

He looked away from me, "Not hungry." I falsely smiled, "Okay, I just need you to eat for me okay."

"Like I said, I'm hungry." He chuckled lightly.

I frowned and looked into his eyes, they didn't look dilated but how am I supposed to know? I'm not the doctor, "Can I see your arm?" He looked up at me, "Why?"

"Let me see your arm."

"Kurapika I'm not back on drugs." He chuckled nervously again, "Why would you think that? Do you not trust me? Am I really that untrustworthy?"

I looked at him, "Give me your arm." He held out his arm, "See nothing."

"Other one."

He looked at me confused, "N-no. I didn't do it Kurapika."

"For the love of God Leorio, just give me your arm!" He held out his arm. I sighed, "I knew it. Okay, come on. The kids are here and you're going to eat dinner with us."

He looked at me, "I don't want to see the kids."

"Leorio you have to-"

"No I don't Kurapika."

I sighed and sat beside him, "Why'd you do it again Leorio? Is it because of your patient?" He nodded, "I wanted to see him. Tell him the truth, even if it was a hallucination. Kurapika I lied to him, more or less I couldn't save him."

I held back the tears in my eyes, "Leorio, it's not your fault okay. We talked about this before. Just because you're the doctor doesn't mean you're responsible for their death." I could see him start to cry, "But why does it feel like it? Kurapika he had the same thing as Pietro and I didn't even notice."

I looked at him, "It's okay. I know you tried so much to save him but it was too late. And it's not your fault, it's not his, and it's not his parents fault. It was just time for him to go, Gon wants to see you do you think you can come eat with us? I'm fine if you aren't up to it."

He looked at me and smiled, "I'm up to it."

I smiled back, "Come on then. Dinner's getting cold." I kissed his forehead and went back into the kitchen, he'll be happy once he eats with us. I know he will, because they were all so excited to see him.
