Three Kings Day

Leorio POV

"Lilian!" I yelled, "Come downstairs! You have gifts chica!"

I heard Lillian quickly run down the stairs, "I do?"

"Uh duh, it's Three Kings Day."

She smiled, "Does everyone else have gifts too?"

"Only you, me, Kurapika, Lucy, and Gon. Killua and Alluka couldn't make it nor do they celebrate. I did secretly get them gifts though, so don't let them know." I winked.

She smiled, "Where's Kurapika at?"

"He ran to the store real quick, I forgot to buy the ingredients for rosca del rey so he's gonna go get them and then we can make it together! Like a family!"

"I don't want to open my gifts without him, it feels wrong. He's like my second dad, which is a bit weird that I have two dads but eh, who cares. You know at school they said it was wrong but whatever I love my dads."

"You're very sweet Lilly, if you want to wait for Kurapika you can go eat some snacks, don't eat the brownies though. Not for kids."

"Does it have alcohol in it?"

"Sure."

I patted her back and smiled.

"Okay, I got the ingredients for the bread and everything else for the meal. And cayenne pepper? Really? That's spicy Leorio." Kurapika mumbled setting the ingredients on the table.

"Yeah yeah whatever. Put the stuff we that needs to be cold in the fridge."

"We aren't making it right now?" He looked up.

"Nope, Lilly wants to open gifts first. By the way, next week is when we can officially adopt Lilly so please Kurapika, please make sure the house is okay looking by the time I get home. I'll clean it before I leave but just in case there's any mess."

"I know, I know." He mumbled, "Help me put this stuff away."

I nodded, "Alrighr."

Kurapika and I put all the stuff away as quickly as we could do we wouldn't keep Lilly waiting. We couldn't afford much for gifts because money is a bit tight because of college debt and stuff like that, but we did what we could.

"Okay Lilly, we can open gifts now." Kurapika said walking into the living room.

Lilly nodded, "Okay. Kurapika you open yours first, because your the cook and we need to eat soon."

Kurapika chuckled, "Okay hun."

"It's from me not Dad!"

Kurapika smiled, "Thank you."

Kurapika opened his gift and smiled, "Aw Lilly it's adorable, did you draw this yourself?"

"Yep! I drew it in art class. Do you like it?"

"Of course I do! When I go to my new job this will be the first thing that goes on the wall."

"Really?"

"Yes of course! I'll tell all my students that my beautiful daughter drew it!"

Lilly smiled proudly, "Of course you will."

"Lilly, open your gifts sweetie!"

Lillian nodded and opened her gifts. Then me. Then Kurapika opened a Lucy's for her. Lilly got three Barbie dolls plus a house for them, I got a watch from Lilly and knives from Kurapika, and Lucy got new shoes and clothes from all of us. Then we cooked, ate, and played games for the rest of the night.

And my daughter was finally part of my family.

I rushed this so quickly I forgot to do research so I had to go on discord to ask Hispanics how to celebrate it. Anyway happy Three Kings Day to those who celebrate!
