NEW YEAR'S EVE - JUNIOR YEAR

Sporting a sparkly two piece outfit and her hair swept up in a perfect ponytail, Sophie walked into Daniel's alongside Lexi, ready for a wild night. As usual, people were everywhere and everyone was drunk. Luckily, Sophie knew to never turn up stone cold sober, as it always ended with puking because you'd spend your time trying to catch up to everyone's level. Her and Lexi had already had a few coolers and some shots and now she was good to go for the night because she secured a bottle of tequila. She adjusted the Tiffany necklace around her neck and followed Lexi to where Maddy, Cassie and Kat were sitting. She had only seen Lexi and the Jacobs' in the last few days, as she was pretty much forced to spend quality time with her mom and grandma. Not that she was complaining, but she needed to be with her friends for tonight.

"Hey bitch. Wow, you look hot." Maddy said, checking out Sophie's outfit.

"You too."

Sophie took a seat beside Maddy and the two began to catch up.

"So, like, how was the Christmas Eve dinner?"

"Oh you know, it was good. Same as always."

"That's good. It's still really annoying to me that Nate's parents don't like me. Like what's their deal anyways?" Maddy complained.

"I wish I knew."

"You're so lucky his parents like you."

Sophie laughed, "That's what happens when you've known someone your entire life."

"I wanna stand up to them the next time I'm there. Like, I'm nice, why can't they see that?"

"Oh, yeah, I wouldn't recommend that. Cal can sometimes get pretty angry."

"Yeah, he's a fucking creep." Maddy spat.

"I wouldn't say that, but he's definitely hot headed." Sophie said and then sighed, "What did Nate get you for Christmas?"

Maddy took a drink, "Perfume and a jacket. Honestly nothing special. I'm not going to lie, I was expecting more."

Sophie's eyes widened slightly and her heart fell into her stomach. Nate got her an extravagant gift and Maddy got the short end of the stick. And she was wearing the gifts he got her, which made it even worse. A million thoughts were running through Sophie's head, but all she could think was why? Was it possible that their secret kisses were more than just a kiss? I mean, probably, considering the amount of chemistry between them each time. She brushed it off as Maddy eyed her necklace.

"What did Nate get you?" Maddy asked suspiciously.

"A few self-care products and perfume, too." Sophie lied.

But Maddy saw right through the lie, "And the Tiffany necklace? Don't try to tell me it's fake because I can clearly tell it's not. It's sparkling, even in this light."

"My mom." Sophie said, being to fumble with the bracelet by accident.

"And she got you a matching bracelet?"
