"Did you get tickets to Lexi's play today?"

"Shit, no I'm sorry, I totally forgot to pick them up."

"It's fine, I'll get them from her tomorrow when I'm at school."

Lexi's play was fast approaching. It was this Friday and Sophie was incredibly excited for it because she really didn't know what to expect.

Nate looked through his mail, glancing up at Sophie before looking down again, "I, uh, I got into USC for business."

"Really? Oh, congrats Nate." She smiled, hugging him from behind.

"Yeah, uh, thanks."

"Did you get in anywhere else or just USC so far?"

"Just USC."

"And? What are you thinking?"

"I'm going to wait to see if I got into any of the other schools I applied to."

"How many did you apply to again?"

"Just three. All here in California." He paused, knowing she was going to ask if he had a preference , so he beat her to it, "And no, I still have no preference. I'd like to know where you'd want to apply in the future so that I can apply there too, unless it's one of the three I've already applied to."

"I still don't know."

"There's no rush."

She gave him a look, "Of course there's a rush. I need to decide."

"That is up to you and only you."

"I know and it fucking sucks."

"Maybe you should talk to your guidance counsellor."

Sophie groaned, "I know. I'll try tomorrow."

And she did speak with her guidance counsellor. What did she find out? Well, she was still on track to graduate, and the school wanted her to be the valedictorian, if she wanted to of course, because her grades were still the highest. She had had a fucking baby and she was still doing better than everyone else. It made her proud, she truly was doing it all for Mia.

As a child, she had wanted to be a doctor, but there was something about nursing that she liked better. So, with her counsellor, she decided to apply for nursing. She picked three schools. Only one was the same that Nate applied to. And you know how she was going to do intake for next winter? Yeah, well, she was technically eligible to apply late for the fall semester. So she did. Her counsellor told her she was likely to get in due to her grades and extra curriculars.

And now Sophie was going to be an anxious mess until she heard back. She went in to get information and came out with applications sent out. So, she was a bit frazzled.

"How'd it go?" Nate asked, seeing her walk out of the office.

"Apparently I was able to apply for the fall semester still. So, I applied to three schools."

"Oh, congrats then. That's good right?"

"Yeah."

"Where'd you apply?" And he saw the look on her face as he nodded, "I never said you had to apply to the same schools as me, Soph. I told you to chose the programs or schools that you liked."

"No, I did chose the ones I liked. One of them is the same as yours."

"Is that your top choice?"

She shook her head slightly, "No."

"Alright." He nodded, turning on his heels and heading towards the office she came out of.

"Nate?" She called out but she ended up continuing on.
