Chapter Ten

Sophie arrived back at school with 15 minutes to spare. She ran inside and put her things in her locker before meeting up with Cassie. The two of them grabbed their pom-poms and ran out to join the other girls on the sidelines.

"You two are late." Maddy spoke.

"I'm the captain, it's fine." Sophie said as Maddy rolled her eyes.

"Please welcome the East High Blackhawks!" yelled the coach as the team ran out onto the field. The cheerleaders threw their pom-poms in the air and cheered, "Everyone please rise for the national anthem." Everyone on the bleachers stood up and the national anthem began.

Once it was finished, everyone sat down again and Sophie scanned the crowd for her mom and Nate's parents. She found them, in their usual spot, and gave them a wave and a big smile, which they returned. She noticed that Maddy was glaring at her when she turned back around.

"What's your problem?" she asked.

"Nothing." Maddy said, looking away.

Once the game started, Sophie was very focused on the game, well, mainly just Nate.

Being the supportive best friend, she obviously had to yell at him, "Throw the ball Nate! Let's go!"

"Let's go Blackhawks, let's go!" they cheered as the game got down to the last few seconds.

Nate had the ball and was about to throw it. Come on, throw it, Sophie thought as the ball left Nate's hands and the crowd erupted in cheers.

The cheerleaders rushed over to the football players to congratulate them. Nate and Sophie locked eyes and Sophie ran right into his arms, making Nate pick her up and swing her around. As soon as he let her go, she saw Maddy standing behind her, looking pissed. She glared at Maddy and ran over to her mom and Nate's parents, giving them a hug.

"That was a good game." Marsha said as Sophie's mom nodded.

"It was alright, it could have been better." Cal said with a shrug, staring off at Nate and Maddy, who were yelling at each other, "He's too distracted."

"I figured they would be broken up by now." Sophie's mom said as she watched Sophie look back again, "She doesn't know."

"Well, we're going to head out. Text me what your plan is tonight, okay?" Sophie's mom said, giving her a hug.

"Okay, mom." she said, "Bye Cal, bye Marsha."

Sophie turned around, only to see Maddy storming towards her and Nate following, "You're fucking pregnant?" she screamed, shoving Sophie.

"You told her without me?" Sophie yelled at Nate.

Maddy scoffed, "First, you fuck my boyfriend and then you get knocked up? You know, I was actually jealous of you, but now that I know you're such a big slut, I'm not."

"Fuck you, Maddy." Sophie said, pushing her.

"Sophie, she's not worth it." Nate stepped between the two of them as they realized that the other cheerleaders and football players were watching.

"Not sure if everyone heard or not but, Sophie is pregnant! With Nate's baby! Both of you can go fuck yourselves. You're both dead to me." Maddy yelled as everyone started whispering,

Everyone was now looking at them in shock as Cassie ran up to them, "Maddy, you're making a scene."

"I don't fucking care, Cassie!" Maddy said as she pushed her out of the way, walking off the field, making everyone else follow.
