Chapter Twenty-One

"We're suspending your son until the investigation is completed." Principal Hayes said to Cal Jacobs during a phone call later that night.

"But that could take months." Cal said, lowering his voice.

"We're aware, but Nate can resume his studies at home."

"We can't do a week suspension or even two weeks?"

"I'm afraid not, Mr. Jacobs."

Cal sighed, "Alright, thank you."

"You're welcome. Best of luck." Cal hung up, walking into Nate's room.

"So, how long am I suspended for?" Nate asked, looking up at his dad

"Until the investigation is complete."

"Great, just fucking great." Nate scoffed.

Cal stared at his son and then closed the door, "Nathaniel."

"What?"

Cal sighed and sat down on his bed, "Did you do it? You can be honest."

Nate gulped, "It was one moment of anger, I didn't mean for this to happen."

Cal sighed, "That's what I thought. You cannot admit that to anyone. You and I will keep this a secret."

"I won't."

"What were you thinking?" Cal asked.

"I wasn't thinking, dad. Obviously I didn't fucking do it on purpose."

"But you still did it." Cal said.

Yeah, and so have you.

"Do you think Sophie told them the truth?"

"No, but she wasn't the only one there that night."

"Well, who else was there?"

"Maddy, she saw it happen."

Cal let a deep breath out, "Would she tell them?"

"I doubt it."

"You do realize this means that you cannot have any interaction with Sophie, right?"

"What do you mean?"

"During this investigation, you cannot text her or call her or see her. It tampers with the entire investigation."

Nate stood up, "Dad, I have to fucking see her."

"That's not my problem, Nate."

"So I can't contact her and she can't contact me? This is fucking bullshit."

"And if she contacts you, you cannot respond." Cal said, grabbing his sons arm, "Do you understand how serious this is, Nathaniel?"

"Yes."

"Good." Cal said, leaving his sons room.

Nate cursed under his breath and layed on his bed. He though about how much stress this would cause Sophie, which she isn't supposed to have. In the last week, he had almost made her miscarry, then he fucked Maddy and she walked in, he choked her at the carnival because of the comments she was making due to the fact that she was pissed about him fucking Maddy and now, they were going through an investigation because he choked her and the nurse found out about it.

He took a deep breath in, as he realized that he probably would never get to meet his baby because either a) Sophie would miscarry due to the huge amount of stress on her or b) Brenda would keep Nate and his family away from the baby in order to prevent stress. Nate was so fucking angry with himself because he was the one who caused everything to happen. But, there was no taking it back now and he had to deal with that.
