Tons and tons of flowers were assorted all over the entrance, along with balloons and a banner that said "Welcome Home!", and arrangements of fruits and sweets were on the table.
Sophie's jaw dropped as Marsha and Brenda smiled at her.
"Welcome home, honey."
Sophie's eyes filled with tears as she turned back to Nate, "Did you, did you, did you do this?"
Nate smiled down at her and nodded, "Yeah, I did."
She sniffled as tears ran down her face, "Thank you. This is so fucking sweet."
Nate out Mia's car seat down and wrapped his arms around Sophie, planting a gently kiss on her lips before wiping the tears off of her cheeks. And by the time he looked over at Mia again, she was already out of her car seat and in Brenda's arms.
"When did you do this?"
"When I came to grab stuff, I made sure most stuff was set up, except the fresh fruit. Our moms did that earlier."
"This is amazing. Thank you. I feel very much at home now."
"As you should. You deserve the world." He said, cupping her face.
"Nate-"
"Sh." He whispered, pressing his lips to hers again, extending the kiss further this time, "I love you, okay?"
They pressed their foreheads together, "I love you."
"This is when shit gets real."
"I know."
"But we have to remember that we've got each other, alright?"
"Mhm, always."
"Exactly." Nate smiled, "Always. Let's eat and then later we can go bring Mia to meet your dad, okay?"
"Sounds perfect."
Sophie looked around in awe. As if Nate did this all for her, and Mia. It was so sweet and she just felt like crying. Her hormones were all over the place, but she was surprisingly holding it together fairly well.
She took it all in. It was the little things like this that made her beyond happy, and confident in their future together. He was so fucking sweet to her. He was. And even sweeter now that Mia was here. She watched as he scooped Mia up from Brenda's arms, cradling her and holding her close.
It was like he couldn't get enough of her. And he couldn't.
The way he looked when she came out, Sophie couldn't even describe it. It was a look of fear, excitement and love. And he sobbed. She honestly didn't expect him to sob like he did, but he did.
The first time he held her? He cried.
Doing skin to skin? He cried a bit.
He had been more emotional than her and she really wondered why.
Maybe because for him, he realized that he needs to get his shit together and change? Where, with Sophie, she was already dead set on who she wanted to be for Mia. She didn't know. And she couldn't stop analyzing everything. In a way, she hated it. She just wanted to relax, but it's as if her brain wouldn't let her.
"What are you thinking about?" Nate asked as he stood beside her, glancing from her to Mia.
"Everything."
"Good or bad?"
"Both."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
