Chapter Sixty

The weekend was a mess.

Literally. A fucking mess.

Here's what ended up happening...

So, Kat had invited Maddy to go bowling with her and Ethan, to which she didn't want to go alone, obviously. She decided to invite as many of the girls as possible. And Nate.

Lexi didn't answer. No surprise there, it wasn't like they ever got along, but she honestly was trying to be nice, especially since the two of them were trying to be civil for Sophie.

But Jules picked up, "Hey."

"Hey, what are you up to?"

"Uh, nothing, just depressed in the bath."

"Do you wanna come bowling?"

"Bowling?" Jules laughed, "Sure."

And then she called Sophie.

"Kat, Ethan, Jules and I are gonna go bowling and I want you to come. I'm also gonna invite Cass, you should invite Nate, if you want." Maddy said as she touched up her makeup. Maddy said to invite Nate because she wanted to see if she was right about her theory of Nate cheating on her.

Sophie hesitated when she heard Cassie's name, "You know how much I love bowling. I'll pick you up, as usual."

"Love you bitch."

"Love you more!"

Now, Sophie obviously didn't call Nate. She hoped Cassie wouldn't go. She wanted to have fun and didn't want to see her baby daddy's fucking mistress there pretending like she did nothing wrong.

But Maddy called Nate, on a whim, knowing Sophie wouldn't. And he didn't pick up.

Then she tried to FaceTime Nate.

Nothing.

She tried a few times.

Weird. He is one person that usually answers.

And as for Maddy, she tried calling Cassie a few times. And she didn't answer. But Cassie almost always answers. What the fuck was she doing? Whatever.

Wait a minute-

"Can I ask you something?" Maddy asked as she got in Sophie's car.

"Yeah?"

"Did you even try to call Nate?"

"Uh, no."

"That's what I thought." Maddy sighed, "Well, I tried a few times and he didn't answer."

"Okay, well, then he's not coming, that's totally fine with me." Sophie laughed awkwardly, "What about Cassie? Is she coming?"

"Same thing. No response."

"Oh." Sophie sighed as tears formed in her eyes.

Two people she knew that almost always answered, didn't. Where they together? Who knew. Sophie didn't care right now, or at least, she pretended not to care.

"Okay, before we pick up Jules, you need to tell me what the fuck is going on with Nate. I could tell that you didn't want to tell Lexi, so tell me."

"Maddy-" Sophie signed, looking over at her and her jaw dropped.

"He cheated on you, didn't he?"

Sophie let out a shaky breath and nodded, trying to hold back the tears.

"Don't hold it back, you need to let it out."

Sophie sniffled, "But I actually did my makeup and got ready today."
