Chapter Fifteen

Sophie spent a majority of her Friday night sobbing. Lexi ended up staying with her since she was extremely worried about her best friend and Sophie's mom was helping the Jacobs' prepare for the carnival. Sophie was worried too, about the baby, and she wished that she hadn't induced this much stress to it, but really it wasn't all her fault. It was Nate's and Maddy's, but mainly Nate's. Speaking of Nate, he had called her about 30 times and texted her at least 50. Sophie ignored all of his attempts to try and talk to her, until the next morning.

"How do you feel this morning?" Lexi asked, shoving a piece of pancake into her mouth.

"Lex, I'm fine."

"Yeah, I don't really believe you."

"Trust me, I'm good."

Lexi nodded, "Is your mom going to be here today?"

"No."

"Is she going to be at the carnival?"

"She's still at the Jacobs' and then she is doing a night shift, so no." Sophie said as she began eating her pancake again.

"Do you need me to stay with you again tonight?"

"Only if you really want to." Sophie said and Lexi got up, putting her dishes away.

After driving Lexi home, Sophie returned home and decided to text Nate. Because why not, right? He was probably pissed that she ignored him.

Sophie
hi, what time are we supposed to be at the booth?

Nate
nice to finally hear from you
i didn't think you'd be coming still
but 6:30

Sophie
ok

Nate
are you going to actually talk to me? we should really talk about what happened

Sophie
lol there isn't much to talk about Nate but ok

Nate
there's a lot to talk about Sophie
see you at 6:30

Sophie rolled her eyes and put her phone down. She decided to take a nap since she knew that today would be a long fucking day.

After napping and catching up on some homework, she decided to pick out her outfit for the carnival. (Shown as the picture in the header.)

Her phone began to vibrate and she checked who it was, Lexi.

"Hello?"

"Hi, I'm on my way back over."

"Oh?" Sophie asked, a bit confused.

"Is that okay? I figured you wouldn't want to be alone."

"Yeah, that's great."

"Okay, see you in a few minutes!" Lexi said, hanging up.

Within minutes, Lexi was walking into Sophie's room, "Hey girl."

"Hi Lex."

"How are you doing now?"

"I'm fine, Lexi." Sophie said, rolling her eyes.

"I'm just checking in on you. You've went through some shit."

"I know."

"What about the baby?"

Sophie sighed, "Nothing feels different, I think it's okay. I'll go in for an ultrasound after this weekend."

"Can I come? I wanna see!" Lexi asked, excitedly.

"Of course, Lex." Sophie replied as Lexi squealed.
