VALENTINE'S DAY - JUNIOR YEAR

WARNING - SPICE/SMUT AHEAD

Yet again, it was as if New Year's had never happened. When Sophie woke up in the morning, Nate was gone and she felt so alone. She brushed it off and tried to enjoy the rest of her holidays. But when she went back to school the next week, she found out that Nate and Maddy had gotten back together. She wasn't surprised, but she still felt hurt. And Maddy never mentioned the Tiffany necklace or bracelet and jut pretended like she didn't notice Sophie wearing them. Basically, everything was back to normal, but it really wasn't. Throughout January, Sophie began to wear the gift less and less because she just felt like she shouldn't have it on. Like she didn't deserve it, or something. And by February, she stopped wearing it altogether. The night before Valentine's Day, she was hanging out with Nate when he decided to mention it.

"Can I ask you something?"

Sophie's head shot up, "Sure, what's up?"

"Why'd you stop wearing the Christmas gift I got you?"

Oh, so he did notice.

"Um, well, I don't know. I just felt bad."

"Because of Maddy? Did she say something?"

"Only on New Year's." Sophie said as she met his eyes before quickly looking away.

"You shouldn't feel bad. I got it for you for a reason."

"I know, but it feels wrong."

"It's not wrong, you're my best friend."

"I know." Sophie whispered.

"So, you'll wear them again?"

"Yes."

Nate smiled, "Good."

Anyways, the next morning, Sophie put the necklace and bracelet back on. It was Valentine's Day and honestly, she could care less. Marsha always got her and Brenda their own flowers, which were already sitting in vases on the dining room table. She decided to wear a red crew neck sweater with black jeans and her white Air Force One's. Quickly, she curled her hair a bit and put on some makeup before Nate arrived to pick her up.

"You need to get a car." Nate said, as she climbed in the passenger seat.

"I am."

"Oh yeah? When?"

"I don't know. I have to talk to my mom."

"Liar." Nate said, as they drove off.

"Are we picking up Maddy?" Sophie asked, completely changing the subject.

"No, she's getting a ride with Cassie today."

Sophie thought that was weird, but again, she brushed it off.

"What are your Valentine's Day plans?"

Sophie scoffed, "Seriously? You think I have plans."
