Chapter Seventy-Two

Everyone was drinking at Maddy and Sophie's birthday party, except Sophie. Even Suze was drinking, and partying as if she were still in high school.

Cassie had been hiding from the rest of the girls. But Sophie saw her chugging back drink after drink, looking like a whole wreck. And they were practically wearing the same dress, if not, it was super similar. (Pic in header)

They figured that before everyone got too rowdy, they'd celebrate with cake and presents.

Every year Lexi presented Sophie with a cake, and Cassie presented Maddy with a cake. Both typically had pictures of the girls on it. And this year was no different, except Maddy glared at Cassie the entire time, while Sophie smiled at Lexi.

They sang happy birthday to the girls and they locked eyes, blowing out their candles. Cake was served. Chocolate for both girls.

Now who ended up coming? Well, Maddy and Sophie, obviously, then Lexi and Cassie, because it's their house, and Kat and BB. Jules and Rue were invited, but we're no shows, which was fine. And obviously, Sophie invited Nate, a horrible idea, and there was potential that Elliot could come by as well, which also may be a horrible idea.

"You gonna tell us where you got that flashy ring, hon?" Suze asked, taking a drink of wine.

"Yes, do tell." Maddy smiled.

"Um, it's, uh, actually from Nate. It was my moms, a promise ring that my dad gave her."

Suze put her hand over her chest, "That is adorable."

"I love it. It's so perfect." Maddy said, as she played with it.

"That's actually so sweet and thoughtful of him." Kat said as she eyed the ring.

"It is pretty." Lexi muttered under her breath.

Sophie glanced up and met eyes with Cassie who had a smug look on her face. She was glaring at the ring and she proceeded to get up and walk out of the room afterwards.

Dramatic ass.

"We should open gifts." Lexi said, changing the topic.

"Sure, let's do it." Sophie agreed.

I'm sure you're wondering what the girls got for their birthdays. Well, let's find out.

Starting with Maddy, since her birthday was first, Sophie let her open gifts first. Sophie got Maddy a beautiful Amethyst necklace, since it was their birth stone for February. Kat and BB got Maddy a gift card to Sephora. As for Cassie, she made Maddy a scrapbook of their friendship. Sophie bit her lip as she watched, not knowing what to think. And as for Lexi, well, she got Maddy a tube of her favourite red lipstick, and a set of small diamond earrings.

"Thank you guys. I feel so blessed."

Now, moving on to Sophie. Lexi got Sophie a gift card for a massage, and a new perfume. Kat and BB also got her a Sephora gift card, always a hit for her and Maddy. Cassie even got her a fucking gift. A picture frame that was titled "My Sweetest Angel", which she claimed was for Mia. And if looks could kill, Cassie would be dead right now. Last but not least, Maddy got Sophie a scrapbook. Not a friendship scrapbook, but a baby scrapbook, and she had started to fill out certain parts of it for Sophie. She even put a picture of herself in the back, captioning it "Aunt Maddy", which made Sophie laugh.

Sophie smiled at everyone, "Thank you everyone. I'm so happy you're all here."

A lie. If Cassie wasn't here, she would be perfect. But she was having fun so far, so there was no need to complain.
