Chapter Eighteen

EDIT: I wrote this story specifically with Nate to bring more awareness to toxic and abusive relationships. If you have never been in one or witnessed a friend/family member in one, then do not make silly comments regarding it. Additionally, if you have been in one or known someone in one, then I hope you appreciate my take on this story. I have taken things that have been said to myself, along with other friends who have been in unhealthy (but non-abusive) relationships. Therefore, if you do not understand why she cannot leave him at times, or always goes back to him, this is why. It is extremely hard to break off these types of relationships and leave that person. So, that being said, do not get mad at Sophie. She is the victim here, and her actions are due to that of the environment and relationship that she is in, whether they be right or wrong.

"Are you serious?" Lexi squealed after Sophie told her what happened with Nate, "You have to tell the police."

"No, Lexi." Sophie said as she pulled into her driveway.

"He hurt you. Why wouldn't you tell them?"

"Because that's not what I want."

"This is insane." Lexi said, shaking her head as they walked inside.

"Right?" Maddy replied as the three of them went up to Sophie's room.

"Sophie, listen to me." Lexi said, as they sat on her bed, "You cannot put up with this. I won't let you."

"Lexi, I'm not telling the police. I knew I shouldn't have fucking told you." Sophie spat and Lexi looked hurt.

"I'm just trying to fucking help you get out of this toxic and abusive relationship that you have with Nate." Lexi responded.

"I don't want to get out." Sophie began to sob, "I just want to be with Nate. I just want to be happy with him and the baby."

"Oh, Sophie." Maddy said and wrapped her arms around Sophie.

"It would be better for you and the baby if you weren't with Nate." Lexi said, glancing at the two of them.

"You don't understand, I'm literally carrying half of me and half of Nate. I just want him to be there with me through this and I don't care what it takes."

"He fucking broke you." Lexi looked at Sophie with a sad look.

"I don't care." Sophie responded as she pulled Maddy off of her.

Sophie went into the bathroom and washed her face and took a quick shower before deciding to text Nate.

Sophie looked in the mirror and noticed that her neck was being to bruise. She held back tears as she checked it out. She figured that she could cover it up with lots of makeup tomorrow and Monday and no one would know. Other than Nate, Maddy and Lexi, of course. Fuck, she was screwed, too many people know. What would she say if someone asked or saw? It was going to be too bruised for her to lie and say it was from some kinky sex, so she started thinking of a lie.
