"I don't want to leave her. She's going to be all alone." Sophie sobbed the next morning as she clung onto Mia.

"Honey, the day will be over before you know if. She will be fine. Marsha and I will both be here all day."

"But what if she's hungry or tired or-"

"You pumped plenty of milk. And we know what to do. If something happens, we will call you, okay?"

"Will you update me like a few times an hour so I know?"

Brenda sighed, "Yes, now hand her over so you can be on your way."

She pulled Mia closer to her body before planting a kiss on her head, "I'll be back soon, Mia. I love you so much."

Nate bent down and kissed Mia as well, "We love you so much."

And Sophie handed her over to Brenda, very slowly, but she did.

"Get her out of here!" Brenda whispered to Nate as he nodded, wrapping his arm around a sobbing Sophie and walking her out the door.

"I don't think I should go back to school. I think it's too soon. What if Mia needs me?" She asked as they got in his truck.

"Soph, it's okay. She's in good hands."

"What if something happens?"

"Like what?" Nate asked as they drove off.

"I don't know, what if, um, what if someone comes with a gun?"

Nate sighed in frustration, "That won't happen."

"You don't know that."

"No, it won't happen. You're just thinking it will because of the whole situation with Cassie."

"That's exactly why I think it'll happen!"

"God, Sophie. It's not going to fucking happen!"

"Take me home! I don't want to fucking go to school today. Take me home." She sniffled.

"I'm not fucking taking you home. You're the one that called the school and set up your own arrangement so you could fucking graduate."

"I don't want to be away from Mia!"

"Mia is fine!"

"We don't know that!"

"Yes we do! We just fucking left her with our moms!"

Sophie let a few tears out as she looked out the passenger window, "I just want to go home."

"You're going to school."

And the truck was overwhelmed with silence.

They pulled into the parking lot and Nate parked his truck, looking over at Sophie, who was looking out the window before he sighed and opened the door.

"Are you getting out?" He asked her as he got out of his truck.

He stood outside of the truck for a few minutes, "Fuck, fine. Stay in the truck all day." He slammed the door and walked off.

Sophie frowned at his actions. Another reason to not believe that he was changing.

Slowly, she opened the door and got out of the truck, shutting the door. And as the door shut, the truck locked and she saw Nate a few cars down.

"Let's go!"

She walked towards the school, slowly, as Nate joined her when she got to where he was. She felt insecure. Like everyone was looking at her. Because they were.
