Sophie and Nate saw Cassie and McKay approach the booth before joining them in the back. McKay started talking to Cal and Nate as Cassie approached Sophie.

"Hey girl." Cassie said as Sophie stood up, giving her a hug.

"Hi, I feel like we haven't spoken in so long." Sophie said, frowning.

"I know! How have you been?" she asked with a smile.

"I'm okay. It's been kinda hard lately though."

"No kidding. I can't even imagine." Cassie said, sighing.

"Sup Soph?"

"Hey McKay."

Sophie didn't really like McKay that much, well, to be honest she didn't really know him that well. She had only ever talked to him at parties and occasionally in the hallways with Nate last year.

"Yo, what's up with you two? You guys in a relationship or what?" Nate said with a smirk.

Of course Nate had to be a fucking dick.

"Nah, we're just chillin'." McKay said and Cassie scoffed.

"Are you just chillin'?" Nate asked.

"Yeah, we are."

"Alright." Nate said as both Sophie and Cassie rolled their eyes.

Cal butted in, "How come I haven't seen you on the field?"

"Freshman just have to earn their due, that's all." McKay said as Cal shook his head.

"Listen, if you take that attitude, you'll end up spending your entire life on the bench."

McKay shrugged, "It's not a big deal Mr. Jacobs, it's just the first season."

"No, it's a big deal." Cal sighed, "You've got one of the best slide steps I've even seen. You've got promise and talent. I don't think you're pushing yourself hard enough."

Nate butted in, "Dad, I think McKay's going to be just fine."

"Hey, I'm just trying to help him keep a girl like her." Cal said, looking at Cassie.

"Why?" Cassie asked, "It's not like we're in a relationship. Plus, I don't even care about football."

"Whoa, it's not just about football." Cal began as Sophie followed Cassie, since she had walked off.

"Cass!" Sophie calmed and Cassie turned around.

"That was so fucking embarrassing." Cassie said.

"That was wrong of him, I'm sorry Cass." Sophie said, slightly frowning.

"Oh great, here he comes." she said as McKay walked up to them.

"Can I talk to Cassie for a sec?"

"You good?" Sophie asked once more and Cassie nodded.

"What the fuck is her problem?" Nate asked when Sophie returned to the booth.

"If it were me, I'd be upset too." Sophie said, glancing at Cal and then back at Nate.

"Well, it's not you." Nate spat.

Sophie rolled her eyes and sat down as Nate joined her.

"I need a drink." Aaron announced, grabbing a beer from the cooler as Cal glanced at him, not realizing Jules had walked over to the booth.

Holy fuck. This is bad. This is so bad.

"Excuse me, sir." Jules said as Cal turned around.
