"You two are set to be discharged this afternoon." The nurse said as she smiled at Sophie, "Your doctor will come by and make sure everything's okay before letting you go. I'd say she will pop in around noon, but I could be wrong. If you need anything, call us."

"Thank you so much." Sophie said with a smile as the nurse left her room.

She looked down at Mia, who was feeding before she glanced at Nate, who was organizing their bags.

"Can you hand me Mia's going home outfit when you have a second?"

"Here you go." Nate said, placing it on the bed as Sophie burped Mia.

She was looking at all of their belongings and felt like something was missing.

Something was, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

She ran through the list in her head.

"You good?"

"One second, sh."

Ran through the list of items in her head and a light went off.

They didn't have a fucking car seat.

How unprepared could they have been?

"Nate, we don't have a car seat for her."

Nate looked confused and then widened his eyes, "Fuck, you're right. Uh, okay, is there one in particular I should look for?"

"We need a base for your truck and then the car seat that goes with it."

"Shit, okay. I'll go run and grab one. You'll be okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine."

"I'll be back." He said, walking over and placing a kiss on hers and Mia's foreheads before heading out.

She couldn't believe out of everything they had, they didn't have a fucking car seat.

She placed Mia on the bed in front of her and changed her into her going home outfit before scooping her back up into her arms and placing her in the bassinet beside her bed.

As much as she loved the care they were receiving in the hospital, she couldn't wait to get home and get adjusted to a routine there.

Oh my fuck. What about school? It might sound dumb, but she was worried about her grades. She didn't even think anything of it until right now. She obviously wanted to graduate, but it also wasn't like she applied for schools because she wasn't sure what was going on in her life. She could apply for late acceptance in the winter semester, and maybe she would do that. But maybe she wouldn't have time with Mia on her hands now, which was fine. First, she needed to talk to the school, but that would have to wait until Monday since it was literally the weekend.

Sophie slowly got up, stretching slightly even though her entire body ached. She packed up her things from the bathroom and from around the rest of the hospital room to get prepared for when they left. Everything still felt like a dream to her, it was so fucking surreal. And she hated to admit it, but she was scared to go home.

Nate walked into the room about an hour after he left with a car seat and a smile on his face.

"Oh good you're back, and you got her a ride home. Thank you."
