EDIT: I had to go through and delete a bunch of comments because frankly, some were very rude and concerning. And I apologize in advance for spoiling this, but the comments were getting out of hand and making some readers who ACTUALLY ENJOYED THE STORY uncomfortable. I wrote this book with teen pregnancy due to the fact that I was a product of it. Therefore, seeing how you guys comment on this chapter makes me a bit upset. Additionally, Euphoria does touch on teen pregnancy and abortion, but I wanted to go through the entire process of a character keeping it and show what that's like, especially on this type of show. Everyone needs to respect everyone's individual choices. Again, I apologize, but if this isn't your go-to story, then I suggest you exit now.
School began after the weekend of the party and Sophie still had several last minute things to grab. She was supposed to go shopping with her mom, but she had to pick her up from work first. She hopped into her Audi and drove down to the hospital that her mom worked at and went inside.
"Hi Sophie. Are you here to pick up your mom?" Carol, one of the receptionists, asked.
"Yes. Can I go to her office?"
"Of course."
Sophie smiled and headed down the hallway to her mom's office and knocked on the door before entering.
"Hi honey. I'm just finishing up some charting, I'll just be a few minutes."
Sophie sat down on the chair in her office since she was feeling like she was going to faint.
Her mom continued charting before turning to her, "You ready? Oh Sophie, you don't look too well. You're very pale."
"Yeah. I don't feel -"
And suddenly everything went black.
~
"Sophie, can you hear me? Sophie?" her mom yelled as she opened her eyes, "Oh thank god, you're awake."
"What happened?" Sophie asked, as she looked around and realized that she was in the emergency room hooked up to an IV.
"You fainted a few minutes ago. One of my coworkers is going to run some tests to see what's wrong."
"Okay."
"How long have you been feeling like this?" her mom asked, with a concerned look on her face.
"A few weeks. Why?"
Her mom looked puzzled, "Just curious."
A doctor knocked on the door and entered the room, "Hello Brenda, and Sophie. I'm Doctor Myles. If you don't mind, I'm just going to take some blood work and we can hopefully get a diagnosis for you."
"Yeah, that's fine." Sophie said and Doctor Myles got his things set up and quickly took her blood.
"I'm going to get on this quickly. Hopefully I'll be back with the results shortly." he smiled and left the room.
"I thought blood work took at least a day to get the results back." Sophie asked her mom and she shrugged.
"Depends on what you're testing for, but this should be pretty quick."
Sophie and her mom chatted and gossiped for almost half an hour before Doctor Myles came back in.
"So, I have the results back."
"And?" Brenda asked.
"Your iron levels are a bit low, but that's not the main issue."
"Then what is?" Sophie asked, worried.
