Chapter Six

Sophie groaned as her alarm went off. It was the first day of school and she was already dreading it. She had almost every class with Nate, just what she needed. In a way, she really wanted to avoid him and never see him again, but she knew that that would never happen. She turned off her alarm and got up, stumbling to the bathroom to wash her face.

She did her makeup and then put on her clothes, which consisted of a pink denim skirt and a white tank top. She looked at herself in the mirror and realized that she did look a bit bloated, but it wasn't excessive, not yet anyway. She sighed and went downstairs to grab breakfast, which consisted of a banana and peanut butter toast before quickly brushing her teeth.

"Mom?" she knocked on her door.

"Come in."

She entered her room and saw that her mom was still in bed, "I'm leaving for school now."

Her mom sat up and motioned her to come over. Sophie walked over and gave her mom a hug.

"Have a great first day, sweetie."

"Thanks mom."

"Did you get the lunch that I made you?"

"Yes. Thank you for that."

Her mom smiled, "Keep your chin up. Love you."

"Love you too." Sophie said, leaving her moms room and grabbing her backpack.

She threw on her Nike Air Force One's and hopped in her car, texting Lexi to see if she needed a ride.

do you and Cassie need a ride?

Lexi
lol I need a ride! Cassie got a ride with Maddy and ditched me

Sophie
of course! I'll be there soon

Lexi was standing outside as Sophie pulled into her driveway.

"Thank you so much." Lexi exclaimed as she got in.

"You're welcome. I know she's pissed at you, but she could have given you a ride."

Lexi rolled her eyes, "Right?"

"I'm kind of nervous for today." Sophie admitted as they drove off and Lexi nodded.

"The first day is always the worst."

"At least your locker isn't close to Maddy's. Peters and Perez? We've been a few lockers away almost every year."

"I forgot about that."

"I also have 3 out of 4 classes with Nate."

"How is your relationship, by the way?"

"Um, it's okay. It's probably fine since he and Maddy are back together." she rolled her eyes, thinking about having to see the two of them.

"Hopefully she will forgive you."

"Probably not."

"Why do you think that? Are you two going to continue fucking?"

Sophie shook her head as they pulled into the school's parking lot, "I doubt it."

She pulled into a parking space and her and Lexi got out as Nate's truck drove past them. She avoided looking as they made their way into the school.

"I'll see you in biology, okay Soph?" Lexi said as they entered the school.

"Sounds good." Sophie replied as they parted ways and she headed to her locker.
