"Okay and then you just tilt the bottle like this and there, she's getting the milk!" Sophie exclaimed as she let go of the bottle that Nate was holding.
He was attempting to feed Mia and was very nervous. They walked him through warming up the milk and testing it on his wrist to make sure it wasn't going to hurt her, which he worried about. And now, he was worried that she was getting too much milk too quickly.
"Is it coming out too fast? What if she chokes?"
"She's fine. You'll know if somethings wrong because she'll cry or she will cough. Plus, she can only get the milk out if she's constantly sucking."
"Right, okay." Nate sighed as he watched Mia, who was wide awake, chug the bottle of milk back like it was a drinking contest, "She's definitely our kid. Look at the way she's gulping this back."
Sophie laughed, "Looks a bit familiar, doesn't it?"
"Think I've seen you do that a few times."
"Hm, I don't know. You've got a habit of it yourself." Sophie said with a grin.
She ended up having two glasses of sangria. Because the first one didn't do anything to her, but the second one did. Although she hadn't drank in so long, her tolerance was way different and after two glasses, she felt fuzzy. And bubbly. And happy.
So, strangely like her old self.
The days began to pass quickly, which was surprising. Nate was incredibly helpful. Like, he would always get up to get Mia in the middle of the night and either bring her to Sophie or give her a bottle, if he wanted her to sleep. The fact that he was so hands on made Sophie extremely happy, yet she kept having a gut feeling that something would go wrong at some point. She didn't want to give into it, but again, it was Nate, so who fucking knew what would happen.
A week after Mia was born, she sorted things out with the school. They were going to let her do half online work and half in person. That meant that she had to go to class twice a week. Two whole days away from Mia a week. It made her nervous. And not only that, but they wanted Nate to pretty much be in school full time because he hadn't actually had the baby. Yet, they had no idea that Nate tried to be the dominant parent 99% of the time in order to help Sophie, so, realistically, he deserved two days of school a week, but it wasn't going to happen.
So, Nate would be at school all week, yet stay with Sophie each night, and Sophie would be at school Tuesday's and Thursday's and home very other day. She was very thankful that Brenda and Marsha were so eager to help out with Mia during the days she would be away.
But she was dreading it.
She was still healing from having a fucking baby.
How the hell was she supposed to do her whole bathroom routine at school?
She knew she would figure it out but it would fucking suck.
That weekend before she went back to school, she received a bouquet of flowers from Fezco. He wasn't told that she had the baby until much later and he still wanted to gift her something.
So, flowers it was. And he even made sure that there was one fake one for Mia to keep.
Sophie appreciated it.
Nate? Not so much. He didn't want Fezco to meet Mia. And he hadn't yet, but Sophie sent him a picture of her so that he could meet her in a sense.
When Cassie saw Nate walk into the school Monday morning, she was surprised and shocked. She knew Sophie had the baby, and she hadn't congratulated her or anything, but she was shocked that he was here.
