Mia only woke up once during their first night home. Sophie tossed and turned all night, to which, Nate tried to help her sleep in any way he could, holding her in his arm, rubbing her back etc.

She just couldn't sleep.

At all.

He didn't understand why.

She fell asleep after feeding Mia the next morning. Nate had to pry Mia out of her grasp and put her in her crib before carrying Sophie to her bed. He hoped that she would sleep for a few hours, he could handle Mia for that long. The only issue was if she got hungry, he couldn't help her.

"Do you think she has post partum depression?" Nate asked Brenda as she made lunch.

"I'm not sure. Frankly, it might be too soon to tell."

"She just seems so, so sad."

"She might, but she could also be overwhelmed adjusting to her new life."

"That's true."

"Keep an eye out for any other signs of it, okay?" Brenda sighed, "Because it runs in the family."

Nate nodded, "Will do."

Mia was hungry three hours later.

Nate groaned as he noticed Mia searching for food by turning her head towards his chest, literally looking for it. She was whining slightly as he went up to Sophie's room to wake her up. She was still sleeping as Nate slowly sat on the bed beside her and shook her awake.

"Hey? Soph, hey baby, sorry."

She glared at him and groaned, "What?"

"I think she's hungry."

Rubbing her eyes, she groaned, "Oh shit, okay. Pass her to me."

Nate handed Mia over to Sophie as she slowly got herself in order to feed Mia.

"I'm still so tired." She groaned.

"I know, Soph." Nate pressed a kiss to her cheek as she looked over at him, "Are you okay though, for real?"

She broke their eye contact, "Yeah, no, yeah."

"Soph, be honest with me. Please."

"I am."

"I feel like you're not though."

"Nate, I'm fine."

"Sophie-"

"Why are you so set on the fact that somethings wrong with me?"

"I don't know, maybe because you haven't been yourself since Mia came? Look, are you feeling, like, depressed? Are you overwhelmed with everything?"

"Nate, seriously-"

"I'm just trying to look out for you! I don't want you to fucking fall further into whatever this is-"

"Whatever this is?" She scoffed, "Is this a fucking joke?"

"Sophie-"

"No, clearly you don't understand what's happening with me."

"No, I don't! That's why I'm trying to fucking understand!"

"Don't yell at me!" She said, glaring at him as tears formed in her eyes.

"Don't yell at me." He whispered back, holding her gaze.

"Why haven't I been the same since Mia came three fucking days ago? You want to know?"
