Sophie didn't go to find Lexi. Well, she was going to, but then she ended up in the bathroom. The sketchy one on the second floor that no one went to because the toilet was always overflowing. But she needed to be alone and this was literally the only spot she could think of. Closing the stall, she closed the lid to the toilet and cried as she sat down.
She felt anxious and panicked and sad. Like she just couldn't divide all the emotions that were overwhelming her body.
Lexi
I'm in the drama room if you want to meet there
Sophie let out a deep breath and replied.
Sophie
I'll be there soon
Nate was on her mind. Why had he been so short with her? She was struggling and he wasn't making it any better, really, he was making it worse.
How come Nate couldn't have patience with her now when he literally had patience with her when Mia was born, only two weeks ago.
The worst part was, she knew she was depressed.
She knew she had the signs of postpartum depression, but she wanted someone else to notice. She knew Maddy did, but Maddy didn't say anything, and likely had ripped into Nate about it after she left. That was one of the things she loved about Maddy. She'd always have her back.
She needed to talk to someone. A professional. Because she couldn't keep living this way. She needed to air out all of the problems and secrets she held in order for her to heal. In her mind, she thought that she would be fine when Mia was here, but truly it was the opposite.
Calming herself down, she exited the stall, looking at herself in the mirror. Luckily, she hadn't worn any makeup, and if she had, it would have been cried off by now. She splashed her face with cold water before taking a few deep breaths, giving herself a small, yet fake, smile before leaving the bathroom and heading to the drama room.
"Hey!" Lexi exclaimed as she walked into the room, "Come sit."
Sophie sat beside her as Lexi put her laptop away, "Working on your play?"
"Yeah, it's coming together really well." Lexi looked over at her, "Is everything okay?"
"Uh, yeah."
Lexi gave her a look, "Sophie, I'm not stupid."
"I just, I'm carrying a ton of baggage, okay? That's the simple version of it, but I don't want to talk about that right now. Let's talk about you."
"But if somethings really wrong, you'll do something about it, right? I mean, like, uh, I'm not assuming things but if you are suffering from postpartum depression, I'm sure Mrs. Mackey, the counsellor, could help provide you with, uh, resources."
Even Lexi could see it.
And Sophie smiled slightly, a real smile.
"Yeah, yeah, thanks Lex."
"Anytime, uh-"
"So, the play? What's it about?"
