Back in class, Nate began to worry about Sophie. He didn't know why she fainted, but she hoped she was okay. He didn't see her in the hallways after class, which meant she was still at the nurses office. He sent her a text to see if she was alright, but never she never ended up responding. Halfway through his second class of the day, the door opened and in walked Principal Hayes and one of the police officers.

"Mr. Jacobs, can you please come with me?" Principal Hayes asked and Nate looked confused.

"What?"

"Come with me."

"You wanna tell me what the problem is?" Nate asked and the officer stepped forward.

"Don't worry, we will."

Nate scoffed and grabbed his binder, leaving class with the two of them. People began to whisper as soon as he stood up, but he pretended like he couldn't hear them. They led him to a room near the principal's office and they all sat down.

"What is this about?" Nate asked again and Principal Hayes sighed.

"Mr. Jacobs, we have brought you down here today because we believe that you are the one who left extensive bruising on Sophie Peters neck."

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Nate shook his head, "I wouldn't hurt her like that."

"We have reason to believe that it was indeed you."

"It wasn't me. I swear. She's literally pregnant with my baby, you really think I would hurt her?" Nate asked, looking the Principal in the eyes.

How the fuck did the police know? What the fuck happened? And what the fuck did Sophie's neck look like and why didn't she say anything to him?

"Your parents are on their way, Nathaniel. We will come back when they are here. For now stay here and think about what you did." Principal Hayes said as him and the officer fled the room.

Nate put his head in his hands, why the fuck did he have to be so stupid? Yeah, maybe Sophie was pushing his fucking buttons all night and maybe he had had enough of it and he wanted to teach her a lesson. But he never thought that this would be the outcome. He never meant to truly hurt her, or the baby. They were his world. But now that the cops found out? He was truly screwed unless his dad helped him, which he knew he would. He felt bad for hurting her, since she was carrying his child after all, but really all he cared about was walking out of here without a criminal record.

"Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs. Thank you for getting here so quickly." Principal Hayes spoke, greeting them in the hallway, "So it appears that your son and Ms. Sophie Peters had a physical altercation on Saturday night, in which he allegedly strangled here."

Marsha's jaw dropped, "What?"

"There must be some misunderstanding. This doesn't sound like something my son would do, especially not to the mother of his child, the mother of our grandchild. May I speak with Brenda Peters?" Cal asked.

"Actually Mr. Jacobs, I think it would be best for you to speak with your son before we take him down to the station. He's just this way, if you'd follow me." the officer said and Marsha gave Cal a nod. Cal followed the officer to the room that Nate was in before leaving the two of them alone to talk.

Cal sat down beside Nate, "Did you do it?"

"Not really." Nate muttered, looking down.

"Did you admit to it?"
