Chapter One Hundred & Three

This chapter kind of jumps around but it's just wrapping up a few different aspects of the storyline, especially in regard to things that occur later on! Sorry if it's a bit bland lol!

"I'm glad you didn't break your promise tonight." Sophie said to Nate after he tucked in Mia.

He hadn't done that in awhile.

He could deny it all he wanted, but it was true.

"Yeah, well, I realized some things had to change."

Sophie crossed her arms, raising her eyebrows at him as he walked closer, "Like what?"

"Like the way I've been acting."

"Go on."

"It's not that I am avoiding you and Mia, I just got so invested in work that I pushed everything else aside."

Half the truth and half a lie.

Sophie would find that out later on.

"You did though. When that happened to me and you confronted me-"

Nate held her face in his hands, "I know, baby, I know. You and Mia, my girls, you're the most important people in my life. As much as I want to provide a lavish life for you, I also have to be present and in the moment."

"I don't care about being lavish Nate, I just care about us being a family again."

"And we're going to get there. I promise." He kissed her forehead, "Now, come on, let's go to bed. A long day of wedding planning awaits us tomorrow."

Sophie furrowed her brow as he practically dragged her by the hand to their bedroom, "You're staying home?"

"I'm going to work a half day, similar to today."

"Okay."

"That okay with you?"

"Fine by me." Sophie replied as she turned on the bathroom light, heading to the sink to do her nightly routine as Nate watched her.

Eventually, he joined her and brushed his teeth, waiting for her to go back to bed.

Nothing was said between the couple, but Nate pulled her right into his arms when they climbed into bed, something that had been missing between the two of them recently.

Sophie let out a large sigh.

"I know." Nate muttered, "We haven't done this recently."

"Not properly anyways."

"It's felt like-"

"I've been sleeping with a stranger." Sophie finished his sentence and he nodded softly.

"Yeah, but we're gonna change that."

"I hope so."

"We are." Nate kissed the top of her head, "But first, let's get some rest."

"Yes please." She said, hugging him tighter.

"I love you."

"I love you too, Nate."

Nate tilted her head up and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips.

Now, Nate was in trouble.

Truthfully, he owed a lot of people money.

Money that he didn't exactly have. Well, he had it, but the business didn't have it and if the business didn't start making more money from new developments, then he would be more in trouble.
