Chapter 2: Life Before The Spider-Bite

(Queens, New York, September 2010, Y/N's Age: 18)

Y/N's POV

So, I've just woken up and my vision is blurry.

I reach over to my stand and I grab my glasses and put them on.

Then I get out of bed and I get dressed.

After getting dressed, I go into the kitchen and make a pot of coffee.

Then I pour myself a cup and see that I almost late for work.

Y/N: I better go.

Then I go and put my jacket on and I walk out of my apartment.

Then I lock the door and start walking down the hall and I see my neighbor Ben Reilly sitting on the steps.

He's like the little brother I never had as he and his mom are really the only two I've talked to since I moved here.

Y/N: Hey Ben.

Ben: Oh hi, Y/N.

Y/N: What is a ten year old doing? Sitting on the steps by himself.

Ben: Mom and Greg are fighting today.

Y/N: Dang, I'm sorry man.

I sit down next to him.

Y/N: You know what I did when my mom and dad were fighting?

Ben: What?

Y/N: I went and got ice cream.

Ben: I love ice cream.

Y/N: Let's go and get some. Get your coat.

Ben: Okay.

Then Ben goes inside and gets his coat and after a few minutes he comes back out.

Ben: I'm ready.

Y/N: Great. Now remember...you have to hold my hand when we cross the street.

Ben: I know.

Y/N: Come on.

(Twenty Minutes Later)

So, I've just gotta Ben his ice cream and now we are walking back to the apartment building.

I keep checking my watch as I don't wanna be late for work.

Ben: Thank you for getting me ice cream.

Y/N: Oh of course, it's my pleasure.

Ben: Did your parents ever fight when you were younger?

Y/N: Oh yeah. They fought some times. But you wanna know the most important thing.

Ben: What?

Y/N: Parents always tend to make up.

Ben: Will mom and Greg make up?

Y/N: I'm sure they will.

We then arrive back at our apartment building and we go upstairs and hear shouting.

We reach the top and then Greg comes out.

Greg: There you are. Get your ass in this house.

Ben: Bye Y/N.

Y/N: See ya Ben.

Then Ben goes inside and Greg closes the door and then stands in front of me.

Greg: You got something with little kids man?

Y/N: No.

Greg: You stay away from my son.

Y/N: I was just trying to help.
