I walk a beaten path
So many walked before
So ravaged by their footstepsTheir screams still echo
And their weapons litter the ground
They say it's silent here
That the sun doesn't shine
And they were rightA desolate landscape
My calloused hands
Lift the wreckage to my temple
A shattered photograph
A smile
A strand of hair
Are all that remain
Or all my brain
Can processI continue my walk
The crunch of paper beneath my feet
Turns to ash
Burned
In hopes to rid of the memoriesBut I still see the face
Plastered on every brick wall
Screaming to the sky
That I was once alive
Sun kissed skin
And roses cheeks
Turned to porcelain and
Hollow eyesAll due
To the lies
And abandoned by those
Whose voices were never heard
Or simply drowned outShe didn't want to hear it
She lit the fire that swallowed the sun
That placed an inferno
Into all around her
Swallowed herself up
Capsized
And dropped to the bottom
Where she drug us with herJust to walk this beaten path
To find our way out
