Mourning Skies

When You left

Maybe it was harder for you
Maybe I didn't understand
But what I always wanted to know
Was how this got so out of hand

You smiled everyday
Hid the sadness away

And although you tried your hardest
(This I can only hope)
You somehow found the courage
To tie your neck inside a rope

Now what went through your head
When you witness the light leave
Did you see the face of God?
Did he make you truly believe?

Wherever you are now
I hope you watch above
I hope you know that all we felt
Towards you was all true love

And the pain you left behind
Didn't leave you when you died
It was passed on to us
And it eats us up inside

So darkness becomes my friend
But a friend no better than you
My little friend of darkness
Is the only thing getting me through
