Thin Ice

They say in winter

It's never wise

To venture north

With stranger eyes

I wish I headed

To every warning

Because I fell in love

With the danger's burning

In the dead of winter

She blazed like a flame

Unable to dull

Or take her blame

So I tried this girl

This flaming sorceress

Who swept me away

In the winter's chorus

Through winter we spent

Away from the ice

She said she drowned

Nearly twice

But I ventured out

And hung on a limb

And what occurred

Oh, what a whim

When I kissed her that time

I felt the ice thin

And as she ascended

I forgot how to swim

So I fell through

Into the frigid cold

She smiled above

With another hand to hold

And so I learned

Take my advice

Never ever

Trust thin ice
