Drown

They say that people who drown
Have less than a teaspoon of water
In their lungs
The windpipe closes
And doesn't let anything in

Your body causes your own demise

This furthermore proves
That you don't need water
To drown

You were the open sky
So endless
Your horizon showed no sign
Of where the sea stopped
And sky began

But I went overboard

Into the stars behind your eyes
I ascended and floated
I tried to take a breath
And I took you in

But I rejected you from my body
Like the disease you were
You were so bad for me
You spilled like poison in my veins
I should have listened to them
Why didn't I listen?

Now I'm stuck with this body
Closed up so deep inside

My airways closed again
I can't let them in
Not again
I'll just drown again
