Ready for school?
No you're not
Check again,
Something you forgot?
Walk through the entrance
Check your hair once more
"Everyone's staring,"
Just go through the door
And the shadows come again
Look at their eyes?
Friends say you look fine
"But I know those are lies."
You can feel the judgement
Like a wave of heat
"I can hear their thoughts,"
To the bathroom, retreat
The mirror shows
No sign or problem
But your mind chuckles
You've tried to stop them
Back in the hallway
A stream of faces
Looming, dark eyes
"I don't like these places."
In first period
You can relax for a bit
Breathe in, breathe out
Don't trigger another fit
The bell rings now
And the class floods in
Your moment of peace
Is pierced with a pin
Say goodbye to the calm
Everyone turns at your cry
Your face bounced off the floor
And you faint where you lie
At the nurses office
With an ice pack on your head
They won't send you home
Even though you feel dead
So you brave the day
And paint on a grin
It'll last this period
Don't let it sink in
Ah, how you've tried
To escape this reality
But it's pretty hard
With this thing called anxiety
