It seemed a second passed
And he's shaking her father's hand
He has the ring in his pocket
And then he takes a stand
He had to turn away
And bite his tongue in fear
He felt the burn of tears
Truly growing near
A slight touch made him turn
And his eyes fell down
To the woman in front of him
Adorned in a gown
The preacher stood waiting
And he said his vow
"I promise to love you
Forever from now."
Slowly he blinked
And an older woman stood
With two small children
He kissed each on the hood
The caravan was waiting
And his wife choked on a cry
He pulled her close
As she bid him goodbye
A moment later he's in battle
The sky's light like a flame
He begged for guidance
When he heard his name
Another blink
There's doctors, they race
In a moment he learns
This is his final place
Once more he blinks
And he's breathing his last breath
He always kept his promise
He loved her until death.
