From an early age you raised
Your own sprouts to rely on you
For sunshine and love and affection
You kept them ignorant to any light around them
Like horses with blinders
So they could focus on you
Never turn away from you
And it was not only ignorance
It was the soft lulling music
Laced with lyrics you constructed of your own
That they would never find a home
That was not your own four walls
You fed them the words
"I'm the only one who loves you
The only one who will ever care about you
The only one
No one will love you or tell you the truth
Except for me
I'm the only one you can trust."
And so the now seedlings
Spread their leaves beyond his sight
Into a new light
But this light felt new and unfamiliar
And the seedlings shook in fear
And when others rushed to their aid
He chased them away
And cut off the parts they touched.
For he would chop off the hands of anyone
Who dare laid their hands on his possessions. And so they grew
Even more by the day
And the leaves reached beyond his sight
And even comprehension
And they let in their own light.
In this new world there were new stars
New suns to fuel their life
New songs to lull their minds.
And they began to hear the sour tunes
To see tainted light of their caretaker.Because it became so clear
After the blinders were ripped painfully away
That he snapped in anger
At the colors the new flowers saw they possessed
And could now expressWithout of his control
We could now truly begin
To grow all our own
