In my mind
I have many ideas.
"Maybe the world wouldn't be such a fucking mess
If people gave a shit about it."
I think..
But sadly, for us all,
Ignorance rises against our minds
And forces those of us who think
Into silence.
We see each other and we share our thoughts
But out of our meetings we remain:
Silent
Invisible
Just the mere phantoms of the possibilities
The promises
The ones who could truly make a difference
But instead we wane into the shadows.
I can't help but notice
The way the sun shines in such a way,
The way rain reflects off window panes like flittering dancers,
The way someone's eyes look when they're in too deep, and how the color drains like blood from a porcelain wrist
And tears spring from their eyes
And cries escape their mouths but the reigning shroud of darkness remains,
Blinding others
And if somehow they see,
They merely
Ignore it.
How could we...
How can we lose our
Compassion
Curiosity
Love?
We can be so absorbed in our anger and confusion and stress
And we see everyone around us absorbed in their own lives.
We think
What difference would it make?
Being here is a distraction
A hallucination
Because we all live
And we all die.
We meet people
We lose people
And the world still turns.
But my invisibles,
My quieter friends
And to those who feel they don't matter,
Speak
Up
And stop blending in to the background.
When the uphills are mere slopes and our downhills are utter cliffs
Made of tidal waves of suicide and pills and razors.
Of course we'll hit a dead end
And it'll feel like nothing is worth it.
But you can make a difference.
This bullshit world of mockery and jealousy and anger
Can be saved
By you.
By everyone
Like me.
