Abandoned

I haven't seen a glimpse of sunshine

Since the day your eyes closed

It's like a shade had fallen over my entire existence

And you've abandoned me

You have abandoned me in this world of demons

and antipathy

where everyone refuses to face the daily pain they're put through

And they paint on a smile

With blood

Alcohol

Drugs

Bruises

Excuses

And anything they can conjure up

To mask the scathing torment

Tearing open our souls,

Tainting our minds

With the idea that we'll never

be happy

I'm hopeful for the thought that you are happier without this,

But I'm repulsed with the fact that you're no longer by my side

That every moment added up to nothing

And you've left me more broken than I was before.
