Mourning Skies

No God

You say he's been there

Through everything

He's pulled you through

He's why you're living

But I'll let you know

When you pray to the stars

They can't hear your prayers

Nor heal your scars

There is no god

That will wipe your tears

Or will save you from

Your deepest fears

He can't come down

And feed you guidance

When all you know

Is false reliance

Because what god

Abandons his children

And makes them believe

That some are above him

What god teaches

Love below hate

You're not going to some hell

For being at church late

What god kills off people

For things out of control

Who teaches if some are different

Their head should roll?

We are insignificant

Just specks in the sky

We're a fleck of dirt

In the universe's eye

We could be gone in an instant

Just a comet in orbit

Could destroy us all

Our lives we'd forfeit

So why do we rely

On a deity we created?

We're no better than any other

Our lives are belated

So let go of such burden

And live your life

No god will punish you

Or save you from strife
