I do so hope
You swallow your pride
And it burns when you drink it
Like a fire inside
With your loathsome views
Of others lives
You feed off their misery
And their frowns he derives
How can you live
Off resentment and hate
But claim it's okay because
you're at church by eight
No your god will not save you
Nor will he reward deceit
You're the same as her and me
You'll still be buried down six feet
We are all born
A clean slate, unchanged
But this sickness called life
Makes us twisted, deranged
Don't restrain your voice
When you witness what's wrong
Scream at the top of your lungs
Stand unmoved and strong
Proclaim in the name
Of all that is true
No matter our beliefs
Or what we've been through
You cannot erase
Or wash away
The varying sins
Of yesterday
But you can control the future
At least to an extent
The good you can spread
You will not repent
