"Welcome to our final group event" Halley took a deep breath at that, this was the moment that would get her to the finals "Over the course of the tournament you have each proven yourselves worthy of your place atop the leaderboard. And after today, only the best of the best will gain entry into our tournament of champions" Halley felt Eli squeeze her shoulder from behind, leaving his hand there, the girl relaxing slightly into his touch "Now, here are the rules for this round. Each team will face three opponents, determined by random draw, in an all-dojo tag team competition. Two fighters inside the ring. One from each dojo at a time. The other twelve fighters remain outside, waiting to be tagged in by their teammate. Fighting will be continuous. No stoppages, no timeouts. So use your teammates wisely. The first dojo to score three points wins the match. By the end of today your captains will either be fighting in the tournament of champions or be eliminated, watching from the sidelines. May the best dojos win" he finished
Halley was liking that, they all had different skill sets that could rotate to win the fight, she almost couldn't stand still from the anticipation as she watched two of the fights before their turn and watching those only made her more excited to get on the mat. Their first fight would be against Furia de Pantera, a spanish dojo. The sensei's decided to send Demetri out first to test the waters and it was not good from the beginning. Demetri was showing his next moves and the dual colored fighter against him was practically mocking him
"Demertri, hey tag me in" Eli told him as he was the closest and it was clear Demetri was struggling
"No! I got it!" he fought and Halley shook her head because he most definitely didn't have it
"Demetri, tag me in" Eli asked again once there was a chance
"No!" once again he refused and this time he took his eyes off his opponent
"Point!" he got kicked in the face and as much as Demetri was her friend Halley thought he deserved that
"Jesus Christ" she was tired of the two best friends fighting and ruining their fights over it. He landed close to Halley so he tagged her in and she had no option but to go in. The dude was good but he was also slower than her, he was managing to cover her advances but not managing to throw any of his own, so he did the reasonable thing and tagged his fellow captain who was faster. But not more than Halley, she fell back on her defense to assess the other captain's fighting style. She distracted the spanish girl attacking her upper section before kicking her in the leg making her fall and as she was going down she was received with a punch to her chest "Nice" she nodded
"Point! 1-1" the referee said. Halley tagged in her boyfriend as he was the closest to her and fighting another guy that was fresh while she was coming from a fight didn't seem like the smartest idea. The guy in replacement of the captain was a big guy and just from how he hit Eli the first time Halley could infer he didn't have a light hand. He was heavier than Eli and was using it, he body slammed him making hi stumble and Eli was struggling, less than Demetri but he still wasn't comfortable in the fight
