Halley Larusso had the perfect life, amazing friends, loving family, good grades and money, what else could she ask for? Well, that's easy to answer:
Nothing

"I just don't really think it's a good idea for you to continue fighting in a tournament where a boy just died" Halley's parents were not on board with the idea of letting her fight
"He died on a brawl off the mat. These things don't happen in tournaments anymore" Halley was not in a good mood either, she hadn't even finished her breakfast when Christine had brought up the subject of possibly not continuing in the tournament, her father had obviously taken her side and now they had been at it for a while, her breakfast was ruined and she was frustrated
"So it has happened before?" Diego's eyebrows raise and Halley cursed her choice of words
"Not anymore. There are so many safety measures in place to ensure our safety"
"And still someone died in the tournament a month ago" Christine protested
"Brawl off the mat" the youngest one repeated
"I just don't think its safe" the mother repeated
"I can't just back down now. I'm literally a finalist" she lifted her arms in the air
"We don't think that's the right choice for you" Her father said as he raised his phone to answer another text for what felt like the 100th time as they were having that conversation
"Well, you wouldn't know what's the right choice for me to make seeing as you guys are never here" Halley snapped, she was so used to them never there that them trying to tell her what to do just then didn't feel right for her
"Halley!" Her mother scolded
"I'm not wrong" she said crossing her arms "I've been left alone for months at a time since before i started highschool and have been expected to do the right thing since then. I've made the decisions for myself all of this time and so far I don't think I've done a bad job. I'm so grateful for you guys being able to give me the comfortable life that I have" she made sure to let them know that "But you weren't here most of the time and I had to learn from every mistake I've made and I think finishing this tournament is not one of them" she stood firm in her decision. When she didnt' receive and answer from either of her parents she took that as the end of the conversation "I'm gonna go train to try and win the tournament" she told them before going up to her room to change

Halley hadn't been talking with her parents, they had all just been moving around the house like ghosts. She couldn't lie and say she wasn't slightly disappointed, she was expecting something more from them, deadly silence was not something she was anticipating but she wasn't gonna be the first one to break it and so she kept her mouth shut. When she wasn't training, she had been spending time with Eli, one of those times when he found out MIT wasn't an option instead he was gonna be going to Caltech.
Spending time with Eli meant also with Demetri as they both were developing a software to try and help Robby defeat Axel. She was still amazed at how smart they both were, it was crazy. She would usually seat besides them and try to watch a movie but always would end up distracted by their project, she didn't get half of the things going on but she did love hearing her boyfriend talk nerd
