"You're touring what?" Halley almost laughed when she heard her boyfriend's words over the phone
"College of the Valley" he said simply
"What for? Weren't you and Demetri already set on MIT?" Halley asked confused, she'd been hearing about it since they were in middle school
"Yeah, we are" he said but didn't sound too sure on Halley's ears "We're here with Miguel, he wants to keep his options open, you know" he trailed off at the end. Miguel's financial troubles were no secret, his family lived okay but Stanford was a huge spend
"Right" she nodded understandably "Good luck. Have fun" she sent a kiss over the phone
"Love you" he said as his goodbye
"Love you too" she hung up the phone, a small smile lingering in her face. She was walking around the stands with her cousin who was still not sure where she wanted to go to college, but she was trying that her picked would be close to Stanford to be close to Miguel if he did go there, just like Halley made sure to be close to MIT for Eli

"Spikes! Spikes! Spikes!" Halley was looking amused at her phone, when she told Eli to have fun earlier, he took it too seriously
"What are you watching?" Yasmine asked curiously from the other side of the table
"A video your boyfriend sent me"
"Of?" Sam now asked leaning forward slightly trying to peek into her phone, she didn't have to as Halley slid it towards the middle of the table so both of her friends could see
"My boyfriend" she fought her laughter as she saw the looks on both girl's faces at the video "at a frat party apparently" she finished
"They're calling him spikes?" Yasmine's face of confusion almost resembled disgust
"Looks like it" he also looked extremely happy in the middle of everyone with the red cups in his spikey blue hair
"It looks fun" Sam smiled "Not my type of fun" she shrugged, Halley agreeing, she was never the biggest fan of parties but it seemed like it was Eli's scene, he looked maybe too happy, but Halley attributed that to the alcohol he had already consumed

The fact that the LaRusso family was united with Johnny's would never not be funny for Halley, the whole group of people being so different made up for some interesting moments. They were all united for the babyshower of Johnny and Carmen's baby, Halley had stayed up late with Amanda to make pastries for the occasion, which didn't last long because Chozen had eaten half of them after they went to sleep
"He ate a tray of a dozen cannolis" She said in disbelief approaching the group of teens. Robby and Miguel were obviously there for their parents, Sam and Halley were obviously invited as Sam lived there and Halley might as well, and then Tory who was invited by Robby and Eli being Halley's guest "I spent a while on those" she shook her head as the others laughed, their laughs stopped when something exploding caught the attention of everyone in the kitchen. There was a second of silence before Johnny walked in, his shirt all pink
"The package came early" Carme approached her boyfriend
"Guess it's a girl" Johnny said with a small smile
"I can't wait to meet her" The emotion spilled from the woman's mouth "and for her to meet her dad" the parents-to-be hugged, ad everyone in the room watched with excited smiles and everyone approached them to congratulate them, they were in the midst of hugging when Amanda realized someone was missing
"Where's Daniel?" she asked
"Oh, yeah, uh-" he just moved revealing the other man walking in with the box on his hands and the top half of his body completely covered hot pink
"Oh, god" Laughs started echoing through the room as everyone couldn't help themselves at the funny image in front of them
"I told him not to move" Johnny excused himself
"I'm too old for this shit" he shook his head but the amusement was present on his face. It didn't go exactly to plan, but it sure made for a funny story

When Johnny paired Angela and Halley together for sparing, the last thing he expected to see was both of them hesitating to even move around each other, but that's exactly what they were doing, neither of them were attacking like they should, even when Angela stuck first, it was not confident. Neither of them was too sure how hard to fight the other anymore, seeing as they shared a history of going too hard. After whatever that sparring was, that left Halley frowning, she watched as Tory and Sam did the same thing, the same hesitation, the same uncertainty. It was safe to say Johnny was not happy with them four
Halley took a step back and felt a sense of deja-vu, the way she was fighting, the way she was feeling, it was the same as before the All-Valley, the same fear of pushing too hard, the fear of herself when she liked the sight of blood on Angela's face when they faced each other in Sam's house. The same fear that could get her hurt, in that moment Angela was just as hesitant as she was but in the Sekai Taikai she wouldn't be facing that from others, she'd get her ass kicked by everybody.
She thought she had worked through that mental block, clearly not well enough because otherwise she wouldn't be standing where she is. She needed to figure it out quickly, she needed to know what exactly was causing her to not trust herself like she usually did. And so she did what she usually did when she was overwhelmed, meditate
